so your saying ok whats the point now with the shuffling of the rep system still think vaping and power creep is not a problem ok lets take those numbers in the heading and now crit them 75k non crit ion and 40k non crit proton barrage 45k non crit iso 35 k non crit BO a 75 k non crit ion becomes a 140k base crit a 40k non crit proton barrage becomes a 80k base crit a 75k BO well you get the picture.
since we have diminishing returns for defense what is going on over here ??? somthing has to be done ive seen people crit so hard with this mess and with the inattention paid to bleed through that people now get vaped through a rsp after testing this new revamp of the rep system dmage has gone up upwards of 60% but yet defense just get ignored AGAIN.. you folks say you wanna do somthing with pvp as well but not with this the way it is i mean i just got a ramming speed in for 130 k 215k was the highest ive ever seen but it happens you have people ramming tac cubes and coming out the other side un hurt thats just silly .to say there is not a problem is not the issue here the issue is HOW do the debs fix all this power creep and silly damage WITHOUT pissing the player base off cut damage across the board 35 or 40 % ? so i ask you faithful followers of the tribble....how to fix it??? turn the idea light on and post below please
The devs doubled up on all the damage and forgot that defense has diminishing returns and that players will take anything given to them and exploit it to the max. Hence, now season 9 will be Vapers Online.
Double crit+damage is much much greater than the defense increases they gave, but hey, they say it's "balanced".

i agree plus it got me to thinking if you can cap the amount of damage say FBP can do why not the same to ion charge photon barrage etc etc but need less to say devs if tribble is the proving ground then somthing needs to needs to be done here first before it comes live and ends up a un holy mess.......oh wait
tanking not lower much at all i agree but the damage has gone way up it your going to do it this way then at least give diminishing returns on tac consoles and FFS cap the damage of proton barrage and that ion attack or in effect what you have is bops and other smaller ships just vaping all day and then you have no reason for any one to fly a sci ship or cruiser becasue why would you when you can just get vaped with no chance at defense ...or perhaps they might rethink the whole defense or resistance deminishing returns thing i dont knw a fix for ion but for proton barrage min distance of say 5 km like some other attacks?
They talk about balancing, but I have a ship that can get a decent amount of defense just by cycling two different tac abilities plus some engineering ones. The extra defense added from the rep is complete and utter junk. Meanwhile, they went all insane on the crits and damage. Nobody asked to make the game even easier for DPS centric people. It's power creep to the extremes now.

i just worry that they say they want to redo pvp and make it more attractive to the pve crowd how can that even be the case when you have this mess that they have created they are getting to the point where its gonna get to the point of no return and they will have no choice but to nerf all damage by 35 to 40 % and when that happens they gonna have to brace for the loss of a lot of the player base and hope they can survive listen up devs i know you dont want those guys who make that "starwars" mmo to have better combat and pvp systems than you but for right now they do they are winning like it or not you are compared to that MMo and they to you ....but i have faith in you i know you can fix this but why is it taking so long to get the message ?? i mean somtimes i think you will go so far that you want folks to just throw up hands and leave ..and im not a basher read my past posts most have labeled me a cryptic fan boy..some even saying i was a dev in hiding for some of the responses ive given....but i can honestly say for the first time in 4 years i honestly thought of hanging it up .....but then that minute passed
k i am talking from experience with a vaper vaping is fail 90% of time with no trac beam simple fix wud be to either make decloack put a trac beam on a short shared cd or decloack nerfs its hold by 90% this wud make over 50% or more of vapers miss making them still here but unreliable
im liking the modify tractor beam idea with out the tb to kill defense vapers would be in a world of hurt it kida does make sense as i fail to believe in cannon that a cloaked ship would be able to or should be able to fire a tractor beam while cloaked it would make sense to have the tractor beam on cool down question is 5 second or 10 second cool down when coming out of cloak

Generally, I think these sources of damage fall under the "all resist" of Neutronium. And there are proton resist consoles from the Dyson reputation store, but they're terrible.
The second Hawk said "we're replacing 8 nickels with 4 dimes" it became evident that damage will flatly get a boost. I have posted elsewhere that my base DPS, critical hit chance and critical severity all go up under this new system. And as stated earlier in this thread there's little reason to pick defensive abilities due to diminishing returns. I run an A2D/EPtX build and get about 55 resist across the board, selecting all defensive rep passives only boosted that to 59.
They're blatantly lying about wanting to balance the game. They're also lying about not monetizing the new rep system by not having paid additional slots. One needs to look no farther than the recent "services sale" and then today's patch which removed some of those services. Got to nickel and dime the customers, so the thing you bought yesterday is obsolete today.
As of season 9, I don't think I'll be going to Ker'rat or participating in the pug PvP queues. My Mobius just can't compete. Changes in S9 just completes the goal of LoR, to make the game Romulans Online. Any other faction may as well not show up...
They could add 4 new pvp queues/maps that have restrictions..
1- No cloaking map.. disables all cloaking.
2- No romulan map.. story behind it explains why romulans are not involved.
3- Romulan only map.. same as above except only romulans can go.
4- No crit map.. the crit damage is ignored while on this map.
With these 4 new pvp maps we would find out which ones people play and like the most. After a while the down side will be that some older maps would have longer queue wait times as no one plays them anymore. But those should probably go away allowing the ones people like to get filled faster.
Summary: More choices on limiting what is allowed on some pvp maps. Let the player response to these maps tell which are popular and which are not. Try not to make changes to systems that will upset the PVE players in the process.

I think it would be awesome if the devs could implement a system that normalizes damage. Basically a hard cap for how much damage can be received per second/10 seconds, etc. so that we are not one shotted by npcs or ridiculously vape-bursted out of existence. It could also help with balancing 1v1 with 1v2+ pvp. If one ship can tank 2+ ships, there's no way 1 ship can kill them solo. So instead of trying to balance healing/damage/resistance/etc. around the hot mess of uber tanks who can tank a whole team solo and uber DD's that can damn near vape a whole team solo, implement an equalizer that behind-the-scenes brings everyone into line. Balancing such a system should result in noticeably tanky tanks, and high damage DD's, but no unkillables, and no ridiculous vapers.
The system would need a sort of diminishing returns to it though, obviously it shouldn't limit a team of 5 attacking 1 down to the damage of 1 ship attacking 1, so there's still a benefit to teaming up to gank someone, but not the blow away, doesn't stand a chance... or the tanks that will just shrug off the whole group... meh. I'm sure you get the picture. How to make it/code it, I wouldn't have a clue, but hopefully a dev will be all "oh, we can totally do that." and... tada. lol.

the neutro dont protect against proton or electric damage , for the life of me im like wait no electric damage resist ??? really? wtf? so with all theses advanced star ships all of a sudden non eof them have protection against electric?really? snd dontget me started on the lame proton console protection the should have been added to the fleet neutros if nothing else

my DPS has increased quite a bit on tribble vs. holodeck wile my tanking has not lowered much if at all
