Hi guys,
I'm one of the Character Artists on STO.
I just wanted to introduce myself to y'all.
I've been with the team since the game launched - just thought I'd say hello. :)

Nice to meet you! Were you the one in charge of Worf's revamped look?

Also, welcome to the madhouse. Try to avoid the monkeys, they throw poo a lot. :D

Welcome! Sort of. Was going ask if Cryptic is hiring a lot of people recently, or if more we're coming to the forums, but you answers it for me.

Hello! Character art is something this game excels at IMO. Keep up the good work.

I'm curious what parts you work on. NPC faces? Hair? Uniforms?

Always a fan of people on STO's art team. STO has some of the best artists I've seen in an MMO.

No, good sense is the reason you can't make Howard the Duck. Try Champions Online, although you'll need to either go LTS or subscribe for 1000 days to get the duck head costume.

so finally get the chance to voice concerns directly to the dev team member responsible for characters.

there is one specific issue that has been bothering me for all my time i have been on STO since the end of 2010, the inner thighs of the female characters, that they are not rounded but completely flat like.

a few other smaller concerns, specifically with the open top uniforms with the females again, it seems to be just a grove added and filled with thick padding rather then what should look like her body.

the rifle butt on some of these guns can go through a characters arm.

What happened to the utterly useless character customization 2.0?
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Every Character Artist on the team works on every one of those things. All of us have made heads, NPCs, monsters, clothing, hair, etc. As for me, I've been doing a lot of tech-related things in addition to art-related. But one of the more recent things I've put up are the Khan outfits and the Voth clothing (non-armor).

just to humbly beseech you, if there is some way you coulf find time to conspire with the powers that schedule and among yourselves to bring some of the costumes that are presently not in the foundry right now, we would be even more appreciative of your many and varied efforts, if needed there is a list Im sure captainsmirk can provide you with at your convenience.

(and in case he doesnt, here it is: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=697731&highlight=costume
thanks to drogyn for finding where it had tried to hide itself at)

Those are very cool, using both on some of my characters right now!

Next question. Have you ever done any work, or considered doing any work, with putting costumes in the Foundry? The Foundry is desperately lacking in costume options in its character creator. Things like the two costumes you just mentioned along with Romulan Republic uniforms, Jupiter uniforms, Bajoran uniforms, and many more are unavailable. Here is the list that CrypticFrost assembled: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=697731&highlight=costume

We know it takes time on your end and time is probably the single most valuable resource you have. But we Foundry authors would be unbelievably grateful if you would consider checking a few of these off the list of missing costumes.

As I tweeted to Captain Geko a few days ago about the new ESD map "Let us do our best work with your best work"

I keep meaning to suggest that it may be more efficient to ask for the unlocked editor again (the import costume thing) rather than individual costume pieces. Especially now kits and armour are becoming open costumes.

Honestly I don't know enough about how it works to say which would be more efficient. I suspect putting in a completely unlocked costume editor would be the work of programmers, while just adding costume options to the existing one would be the work of the character art team.

    Yes, sir.

Not that I would be mean to him anyway; STO is a beautiful game. Much better than the tacky mess of a game that I shall not name that is run by Blizzard...
