Ahhhhhh. Now I think I understand that a lot better now.
And that's something worth giving feedback on, and possibly there's a turn-in they can do to alleviate that particular aspect of the change. As they've done in the past with other similar type issues.
So yeah, I think I get the Dilithium thing now. But that's something I think with a little dialog can be worked out. Hopefully.
I hope so too. Since they're removing the Mk X and XI stuff, I'm hoping that the Mk XII stuff (at least some of it) becomes available at lower tiers. Everyone working on Rep is already level 50 anyway. I'd give the dilithium sooner if the option was there - heck Omega has 3 ground and space sets, right? Be easy to spread 6 unique sets over 5 tiers, or the components, or whatever mish mash they come up with.
An upgrade for the people left behind would be good too.
As for the whole change, I'm hoping it isn't a hindrance - and in a rep-heavy future, is necessary.

That's the plan, barring any major bugs. They're going to have it be a progression, so some stuff will be available at the lower tiers, building the whole of the set through the different tiers. Like how the Dyson rep currently works.
I've peeked at the Undine stuff, and noted I really am interested in the new turret. Which is opened at T4.
After i read a lot, my opinion is the same. Since more than 4 years the "elite" missions are the same. And in all this time Player got stronger (also the rep-system ofc). But instead of giving harder missions, they take things away with a nonsens excuse.
The hive space elite was a first step i thought. But the reward is the same as for the other stfs. Naturally people dont play it. Instead of nerf the current system give the player more/better missions for the advanced player.
and yes, i dont know about pvp and how important the rep system is. but why is it hard to say that new player need to do the same way as everyone else did to get it? the intension of the devs to nerf this system wasnt the pvp balance to begin with.

.
The Hive elite is bugged like hell. Cryptic never fixed the problems with it so it is deserted now.
The CUBES go down WITHOUT having lost it's repairs first i 3 mins 56 seconds... That is some serious DPS... Really... They not only have to remove the HP, but also counter the 100K/s repair from the probes.
Remember: Compared to Cure, Infected is pretty much a sandbox with pillows to shield you from your fall.
But NO... This is not ONLY the Rep systems fault, and there is Deffo some other factors (fleet weapons, skills, DuOffs, consoles...), but they have to start somewhere right?
I sense that this is just the first step to get the power-creep under control.
Fleet weapons are OP! (says in joking tone mocking the title of this thread)
Wait until the devs hit that which doesn't require any work other than being invited to a fleet map to get.
And a lot of the C-Store ships with their special consoles. So it's okay by Cryptic to have P2W but not earn to win? Wow. Bad game design by bad devs.

There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas
