Hi Folks,

Just an idea, when you post about a ship, don't put the full names of other ships in your post, when you want to discuss just the ship you are talking about.

Put in a search for Negh'var, and you get everything under the sun, but mostly not Negh'var ships.

If you have to put in the name of another ship in your post, please toss in a character that messes up the name, or a space, or something.

ex. You want to talk about your Vandal, and reference the Negh'Var ; type the word Negh'Var like Neg_var, or spell it wrong on purpose.

Give some thought to your post, before you put on other ship names, make sure they are typed in such a way that they don't come up in the search results for that ship.

Thanks.

I have a better idea. Instead of forcing everyone to conform to you, why don't you type "site:sto-forum.perfectworld.com <search terms>" into Google, a search engine which invariably proves infinitely smarter than the half-assed search engine they always use on web forums?

    @levistus666

Could I make a suggestion. Your OP is coming across as somewhat dictating, by telling others players to don't do this or don't do that.

From experience, many threads where the OP has had phrases like "I think I speak for everyone." or the OP has made some demands on other forum users end up just becoming a breeding ground for spammers and trolls.

I know your OP is well intended, however in it's current worded state, some forum users may find offence, by you saying don't do this do that etc etc.

Can I recommend therefore that you edit and rework your OP to come across more friendly.

I'll be damned to the unholy fires of Gre'thor before I spell Negh'Var wrong on purpose just to make your life easier.

    Ode to the Negh'Var

My Negh'Var is not a Mogh, Avenger, Bortas, or Raptor

Nor is it a Patrol Escort, Scimitar, or Tal Shiar Adapted Battlecruiser

But when you feel down, or just TIFed by a Wells Temporal Science Ship

Just remember the Negh'Var is still in your shipyard.

It doesnt have a hangar like the Tholian Recluse Carrier

it doesnt have enhanced battle cloak like the B'rel Bird of Prey Retrofit

But for the one thing it does well, collecting dust, it has no equal.

I love my Negh'Var even if it isnt a Fleet T'Varo Warbird Retrofit.

    Frankly, that is nonsense.
But don't be offended, and do not despair, for a solution to your problem shall follow below:
Put in a search for Negh'var, and you get everything under the sun, but mostly not Negh'var ships.
Use the 'Advanced Search'. It is linked at the bottom of the small box that opens when you click on 'Search' or 'Search this Forum'.
In the adv. search, you can select that only titles will be searched for your keywords. That way most of the results should be threads actually discussing the Negh'Var. For example: this very thread is not in the search results if you use that adv. search, while it is top of the list when you use the normal search.

The funny thing is if i search for Negh'Var this thread will also be among the results because the OP used it couple of times. :)

Maybe one idea... maybe one of our CM help us with sticky with every ship name...

Ex. In the sticky of Negh'var only discuss about that ship, builds for sci, eng or tact, equipment, doffs, weapons etc

What do you think about it?

There's also the consideration of posting and searching based on what the current form provides/supports; i.e. including one or more on topic keywords in the title field, and then using "Search Titles Only" under advanced search if you're looking for specific discussions vs. any/all references. Then you don't have to worry about missing a post because something was intentionally misspelled; that'll happen often enough on its own when something is unintentionally misspelled.
