the proper "Spatial Explosives" as used in Cryptic missions are only available as part of a set of crates. Crates - Store 02 IIRC.
However there are a number of other potential items that you can use for explosives, You'd have to just browse through the list one by one looking for something that would fit with the kind of explosive that you want.
As far as triggering an actual explosion, there is Explosion FX just do a search for that it and they should appear. You should set the FX to appear when you want the explosion to happen, maybe when you approach something (component reached) or when you specifically trigger it (component complete from an invisible object) either way the FX will play out once as soon as it is "made visible" so "Immediately" isn't usually a good option unless you want the explosion to happen as soon as the map loads.
I used a fire extinguisher butted up against a door for a breaching charge.

I use epohhs (jk). In a similar vein , how do you get the ground tremor fx to work? They never do anything for me and itwould be a cool effect.
Using epohs would be cruel yet hilarious....
I strongly approve!
I've had the tremor work for me when set up to a place marker. If using one,m however,, make sure your radius is wide enough to ensure the player can't miss it. Perferable in a corridor or other confined area.
In my current foundy I have to set up that you beam onto another ship mid-warp, move forwaqrd a short distance and espericne a small tremor as the ship drops out of warp... works like a charm.
