With the server down again I will again be unable to run the event for the required reward needed for the reputation. It seems now that I may not be able to complete it due to the problems they are unable to resolve. My question is will it be extended due to the problems; bearing in mind there may be more.
Because I really do not want to be in the position where I shrug my shoulders and say well that was a waste as it now looks as though that will be the case.

They have already said several times that it would be extended even at the first time the hamsters stopped working.

I may be stuck in the same boat now :/ if this is a long downtime, then I'm really hoping we get an extension as this is the 2nd time in less than a week.

I thought WoW's forums had angry elitist snobs, but I never could have imagined the level STO forums has.

It's because of situations like this that I wish they'd alter the necessary reward accumulation rules. Instead of "You get one of these thingamabobs per 20 hours and need 15 of them in the next 3 weeks to succeed," it should be "You need 75 of these thingamabobs to succeed and can get one every time you win the event, but the first time you win the event on any given day, you'll get 5 thingamabobs instead of 1, so play once a day for two weeks or grind them out in a long weekend, whichever you prefer!" Heck, there's already precedent for it since they dole out dil that way...

    Well, I'll say this.

I'm starting to get a little bit burned out on the monthly 14 day grind-fest.

A grind-fest at your own time is one thing, but a grind-fest where you are required to log in everyday and play however many characters you have through this event every day/month is becoming a little bit mundane.

I would highly recommend that the people that make these development decisions produce a new way to present new content to players than this.

    Thanks.

    Special note:
My join date is not Jan 2013, and my charactors on my account have the title Special Envoy, Which is for veteran forum users. I would appreciate you looking into the well being of your customers. This sort of thing makes me feel that I'm not a valued customer.

That is because you are NOT a valued customer, you are a wallet and a number, if you have not figured that out by now about cryptic, not sure what to tell you.

Also, you do not HAVE to do these events at all, it is entirely up to you if you want to do them.

oh contraire, I quite enjoy these `monthly 14 day grind-fest` as you call them, and you don't have to log in every day only 2 out of 3 so you can bash them out all in one go or do them for a couple of says and have a day off or do them for 4 days and have a couple off, and you can skip them completely if you don't care to get the reward.
or don't do them on every character just on your favourite 2 or 3 or even on just one.
personally I would not mind if they ran a crystalline entity event soon after this one finishes but I doubt I will be that lucky.
giving us stuff to do like this to do stops the game from getting tedious and mundane in my opinion at least they do when the server stays up.:)
That is because you are NOT a valued customer, you are a wallet and a number, if you have not figured that out by now about cryptic, not sure what to tell you.

cant see where you are coming from on this one, the event is free to do and you cant buy the required drop items to fill the rep so I cant see where wallets come into it?
I do know that if they stopped giving us these events people would soon start complaining how theres never anything to do, hang on....they already complaine that theres never anything to do, just goes to show.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

The intent is to do it once every day (missing a few days is possible) on a single character, not to do it 100 times a day every day nonstop. It is supposed to be a fun thing to do, not a second job, and if you choose to make it into a massive grind, that is not cryptic's fault. And yes, I am grinding too --- I need the dil and marks --- but that is my choice. I am not complaining; actually I am grateful for a way to get hundreds of marks and thousands of dil, though I am growing a little bored of it. Only a few days left, think I need 2 or 3 more and then I may keep doing it some on my current project char for marks.

I agree, some variety in the presentation would be a major improvement. The time limited "do it or miss out" stuff is ok sometimes but there are folks that only play on weekends etc. A staggered and extended approach might be nice.... that is, extend the deadline to "do it 14 times sometime in the next 3 months' and then next month, a second one kicks off .... so you always have 3-4 of them to be working on, choosing between different activities daily, taking your time to earn the reward.... etc. The rather limited durations are what burn people out, not the grind itself but the grind within X days or else.

The way I do it is simple.

The 1st character I made (Fed) is my priority. I go through the grind to get as much dilithium, marks and "bonus drops" from elite PvE missions. My 2nd character (KDF) has lower priority, I simply do the main story missions from time to time, but I mainly focus on missions to gather dilithium for a short period of time. I try get a total of 8k ore every 2 or 3 days. This is primarily so I can buy Doff slots for my KDF character since I like doing Doff missions.

Perhaps when I tire of grinding marks for my Fed character I will make the KDF character my primary game and go after all things related to the reputation system. Then again, I have yet to start a Romulan character.

Well, I could use a couple extra days considering I lost time yesterday and the past weekend.
I would appreciate the time back, maybe throw in a couple more as well.

It is nice to see that at least one other person understands where I was trying to go with this.
