I just completed my Tier 5 Omega rep today and now am curious which set would best benefit an Engineer. I've been told Omega set is the way to go, but would like other opinions as well. I am currently flying both a Mirror Assault Cruiser and Mirror Heavy Cruiser

i currently dont fly either of those ships, but my engineer/cruiser does use 2 piece of the omega set. the deflector and the engines. with my power levels, i fly fast, and the 2 piece bonus is cool to have, even though i'm not sure i notice it. however i dont use the shield from omega, as i prefer the maco shield for its high cap. either that or aegis shield just for fun, but i dont recomend that as much. if you really want some cool shields, there's some fleet shields that are really amazing, especially the [ADAPT] shields. works great on a cruiser that wants to tank, without sacrificing anything needed to do damage.

if curious i run an avenger when i fly a cruiser with a engineer.

You'll probably end up getting them all in the end so its more a case of which first. I'd probably recommend the Borg engines and deflector with the Maco shield if you can't get a fleet [adapt] shield.

However, after that it really depends what your build is and what you want to do to be honest.

I am currently setup with a Aux-2-Batt build for tanking. I am currently running an Aegis set but would like an Omega set to compliment.

Personally i feel that the Omega set works best with cannon builds. The tetryon glider is useful for fast firing weapons and the gravity anchor can slow down fast opponents. I use it on my breen chell gret.

For the cruisers you mentioned though i don't think Omega is the way to go. These are not nimble cruisers and your best bet is probably a A2B/BFAW setup for which the Omega set has little synergy.

For BFAW you will need a set which allows you to tank while throwing out the beams.
2-piece borg + maco shield works for escorts and cruisers alike.

The dyson 4-piece set has incredible tanking and Aux boosting.

Aegis set allows you to tank, but has no attributes to boost your weapon strength.

maco set is a good all round set.

Overall it comes down to exactly what you want with your cruiser and what attributes best suit your style.

In mean time use this free set http://sto.gamepedia.com/Solanae_Hybrid_Technologies. Some may say there are better sets around (not even taking fleet gear into account) but it is a good set while you develop you own optimal plays tyle & build.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

From personal experience the Dyson shield is too thin to make a good tanking boat. Yeah the procs are nice but unless you waste consoles on boosting the size of the shild you will be taking hull damage all the time, even with a pair of tac teams on rotation and two epts rotating too.

I use the two piece borg and fleet shield on my avenger to good effect and that would be my recommendation.

All the Omega Rep sets are quite viable. The real issue is what you intend to do with what ship.

That said, the most boring but quite effective combination for a number of builds is 2 piece Borg Set with Elite Fleet Shields.
