When is fleet gear useable?

I've had STO for quite a while, but I'm only a casual user (weekend warrior so to speak). Before dropping hard earned dilithium or fleet credits on these ships/weapons/gear, I want to know if they're useable in PvE-STFs, Episodes, random in-game play, or if they're specifically for PvP and fleet specific shenanigans?

    Fleet consumables... specifically things you call in for support are usable only in 'Fleet Events' e.g. Starbase Defense.

    Fleet gear (shields, weapons etc.) can be used ANYTIME.

    All fleet gear is usable in both pve an pvp, fleet weapons ( advanced ) I would recommend as well as the ships ( can be a bit expensive if you dont have c-store version for the 1 module discount ), new spire tac consoles are v.good, fleet rcs with extra mods added are nice so are the nuetronium alloys, just look at what you want an what you feel you can afford, then grind dill to turn into zen or drop some real life cash ( up to you ).

    P.s. look at what you buy because I've made some bad quick purchases, ask around an read everything esp.. warp/singularity cores.
