So this came to me when I saw the tribble patch notes:
We will be bringing down the Tribble server for maintenance to apply a new update: ST.40.20140316a.5
New ESD:
Players cannot shoot at each other in shooter mode.
Fixed for reals this time.
Honestly, IMHO, they should leave this allowable in the Holodecks.
They serve no other purpose anyways... could be fun allowing shooter mode to work to shot each other in the holodecks.
Maybe open up the holodecks so that when you enter (zone in) it's a random environment - maybe a random PVP or PVE map... could be either free for all or team death matches. Completely random - would pull from an already exisiting map, like ESD, DS9, Bajor, etc, but form it's own 'holodeck' instance for random shooter mode fun.
Could use assests already in game... if it's PvE, then pull from avatars already in game and fill the map with that... if PvP, then just let everyone shoot each other
It'd be different from PvP because it would be random and wouldn't be with teams - just your own holodeck experience.
Just an idea - and one that wouldn't cause them to have to 'create' a bunch of stuff because we could use what's already in game.
And to someone that mentioned in a previous conversation how that'd work without a queue, the two ideas I came up with where have a queue, but with a low number, like 4. Once 4 people are in, the map would genereate either a PvE or PvP scenario and more could join as the game continues. Or, just have a map always 'active' and if it hits it's max, say 12, then another map / instance could open up?
Feel free to add thoughts and comments. Enjoy.
Hi. Apparently I'm new here and joined in Jun 2012. Guess I'm in good company though... seems everyone else joined then too!
