You are not required to do these events with your bazillion alts. Its your choice to do them, so don't complain. And don't think anyone's fooled by talking about the unique items, what you people are after on those bazillion alts is the 50k dil.
And ship events? How many toons do you really want to fly the same ship on? Most of my event ships are sitting in their boxes in the corner of my bank and if I didn't really enjoy collecting things I wouldn't bother getting them on more than one toon in the first place.

This may come as a complete surprise to you, but with my 8 characters I can earn around 3,360,000 dil in 14 days. And, that is estimating on the low side. I could probably also farm around 14k to 20k fleet marks, and around 14k to 20k marks of my choosing. Save maybe Romulan marks or Nukara marks, of which I might only get 5k to 10k of.
(It is also a good thing to mention that most of my fleet credits don't come from turning in fleet marks. If you are in a large fleet you will find that it is often difficult to turn in your marks as the projects are all full of fleet marks already. Of course there are ways around this as well. Just a good point to bring up.)
Most veteran players are aware of ways of farming these commodities very easily. If you would like to learn how to as well you are more than welcome to contact Tactical Operations Fleet Delta in game we would be more than happy to help you out.
In fact, it is the Very Rare Duty officer in the Mirror Universe Event that is the only thing you can not obtain after the fact. It is only available through this event, and when the event is over it will no longer be available.
As I stated previously the dil and marks are a nice bonus in addition to getting this duty officer. However, I assure you that most veteran players are only running this mission to get the Duty Officer.
Now for new players that are not aware of how to obtain large amounts of marks, and dil this is a nice event for them to get a kick start with.
Personally, all I'm concerned about is the duty officer myself.
It is also my hope that they will leave the event in the game as a PVE queue with the option to get Choice of marks as a reward, for the sake of getting Romulan or Nukara marks. That would be nice.

I used to see that once or twice per 12 characters but today omg its been a nightmare.
Whatever genius thought to do this at cryptic needs a kicking.
Its hard enough in pugs as it is without this.
