Oh, just stop. This is one of those threads that I read for a good chuckle. Cannons online? A2b beams online? Are you serious? I'm pretty sure more than half the game population doesn't use the current "hope I win" setup. Most of them actually take pride in their ships, and in their unique ideas and playstyles. The only players who jump right on the most current cookie cutter builds are the ones who are either desperate to be good at something, can't come up with a decent setup, or are simply too lazy to put in the time and effort. Instead, they jump on the forums, find out what's getting op'd this month, and switch, regardless of what they were using previously.
Sure, as it stands, a2b is a very good thing too have for most ships. But that doesn't mean its only good for tactical abilities or keeping a ships power levels maxxed out. For once I'd like to see a game where people can get creative with their designs, and who are willing to do the trial and error phase of their build process, rather than just take someone's word that this is the bud you must use to win, because that's a load of bull$#!&. And threads like this are only making it worse. Please, don't project your inability to be unique on everyone else.
