I have not tested the Elachi weapons but a few things came to mind.
How are they going to interact with shield penetration Doffs, it could make it seem these weapons proc all the time especially with 3 of the doffs? Or it could make damage massive lets say the doffs proc and the weapons proc does one of the procs drop in favor of the other or do both count and then some behind the scenes math get TRIBBLE and you get massive hull strike numbers. Now lets throw in DEM with these weapons and the DOffs and the weapon proc.
I think these weapons will make PvP more of ghost town than before.
Thoughts?
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up
Still, 100% shield penetration combined with50% resist ignore is nasty though. People are going to get killed with their shields still up.
I can already see power creep to harden hull, probably released with the next reputation.
brilliant game design (this game needs a game designer...a real one ): any non resilient shield is now garbage.
btw resistence is not a counter. There is no way to counter bleedthrough now other than that TF console so get your wallet and pay for a team fortress console. If thats not working all the time than wait till the next podcast ,Im sure you will get your doze of BS nonsense about how getting killed with shields on is ok
I somehow doubt it will be a sawesome as it sounds.
This happens all the time really, some power or console or item is buffer or offered cross faction.
People fear that the new power or availability of the console or some combination will make the update op.
Then the update while powerful isnt anywhere near op and we move to the next crisis.
we will just have to wait and see what happens but i would point out that the changes were on tribble so maybe some one who tested it can weigh in.
I will disagree. Considering all the crying over PB that is a long CD clickie. Now to these which do what what PB but more often. I see these making Vapers more formidble because they now do not have to slot all the other console/clickie items to be effective and they can move more towards def.
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up
Cryptic just need to give the impression that resistance is needed to justify the release and motivate people to grind for the next reputation. It doesn't matter if the impression is right or wrong. Money money!!! Create demand and supply the goodies.
Anyways, vaping tactics are the least of our worries. Beam overload will be the same as ever. 2.5% (or whatever the proc chance will be after patch) means this thing is more effective on typical cannon/beam array builds. But it's definitely BS nonsense, what are shields for?
For the stray meteor, and something to keep the floating corpses of crew near the ship during warp core breaches.

lol why vape when you can fawfawfawfawfaw dem fawfawfawfaw dem fawfafaw...etc. till your spacebar dies?

Perhaps. If its as effective as is feared.
But them the bleed through proc may not stack with other bleed through abilitys.
I have never really used elachi weapons so I have done no testing.

I highly doubt Cryptic is forward thinking enough to limit one weapon type to not stack with certain bleed thru skills. And by an off chance they did it will be broken and other weapons will be even less effective.

You assume cryptic has the forethought to allow stacking of a weapons bleed through proc.
I may be wrong but the elachi weapons are the only ones with a direct bleed through.
Antiprotons are crit weapons
Plasma apply a dot so probably not mechanicaly the same thing
and proton weapons are also crit weapons.
So i would lean more toward the assumption that elachi weapons lack the bleed through synergy since they are one offs and cryptic has a habbit of forgetting such things.

I see, I think they should just remove shields from the game. Cuz it's pvp, people have to die!
Vapers do their thing every 1min~2min. With that kind of proc rate, the lethality of vaping tactics will stay about the same, with occasional one shot through shields/resists etc.
I'm more concerned about what faw/crf/csv+dem will do.
Yes but with these weapons they get to vape more often. PvP has turned into a Vape Lounge, can I get Cherry Cola Flavor with that vape. That is the least they con do.
FAW will be even more formidible. I will have to retire the Raptor and go Fleet Mogh, just so I can enjoy the scenery in PvP a few seconds longer.

2.5% isnt that bad especially if its for just one hit only. Watch how long it takes to get a disruptor proc sometimes. It is definitely "more" but I dont think its going to ruin the game or anything (already broken but doesnt seem to be dying from it, this certainly wont be the final nail)
btw resistence is not a counter. There is no way to counter bleedthrough now other than that TF console so get your wallet and pay for a team fortress console.
TF only helps with normal bleedthrough (makes all shields "more resilient"), but it doesnt block special bleedthrough

It is that bad because of what it does. It ignores 100% of shields and 50% of resistance. So there is no cost effective way to protect yourself from this, actively or passively. It just isn't there. Of course it is much better when used in certain combinations (most things are) and most of those things have been mentioned already.
But yes, essentially ships are melting quite handily inside of their shields.
The five second lockout wasn't THAT big a deal. In fact I think that as it forced people away from Elachi Turrets some of our slower brothers and sisters stumbled on a few of the even more better combinations!
Go figure.
Without the math (if you want to go play with binomials, be my guest) the upshot of this is that you will start to see multiple procs inside of one CRF or CSV and from a Romulan Tac that will be very ugly.
So a 10k crit will go from being 250 pts of hull damage to 7500 pts of hull damage. And the beauty is that it is something you can't anticipate or protect against. Good times.

Well, on the bright side of things - with it happening more often - it won't be as much of a surprise as it had been, where you were fine...watching the space butterflies...only to be looking at the respawn button out of the blue from an attack that should have stood no chance of taking you out. Perhaps I've just spent too much time over the years dying and knowing that it's coming, the inevitable...X happens, Y happens, Z happens and there's the respawn. There was a certain comfort level in that - the Elachi BOs were annoying - just random deaths out of the blue...and well, now - it will just be something else expected.
Heck, to be honest though, without the lockout - folks will probably kill each other before the surprise BO happens...

What will be awesome to see is if they let if full unlock and proc at will - on a atb bfaw 5 man scimitar team.
Elachi weapons are about to become the worse possible weapon a vaper could choose.
Vapers should be running... Polaron / Tetryon or Phasers.
For the simple reason that many of the games fawtard builds will be swapping over to Elachi if they where not already running them.
So in response the few people that where not using RESB fleet shields will be now.
A vaper wants to run the most unlikely dmg type to have extra resistance up against. By running one of the RESA weapons you almost ensure yourself a clean target.
Also vapers shouldn't be preying for a 2.5% chance to proc... the weapon type almost doesn't matter on a vaper. I would say tetryon likely makes the most sense... when is the last time you saw a tetryon faw boat ?
defense is not a counter like logout or running away are also not counters.
counter is when you clean a proc/debuff with other power. You can build a ship to be 100% safe against tractor beams for example or against drains.Against them you can also apply logout ,running 1000 km away or defense...those are not counters ,those are ways to resist.I want to see you how you cut "bleedtrhough" or shield bypass... there are no ways to do it.
Now the real problem is not that people don't know the difference between counter and resistence ...developers don't know it either .

To give folks that like torps something to complain about!
We're people too...we need to do our complaining!

Isn't if funny they made a bleed through doff for BO of all things and not torpedoes?

Of course but it helps to cut the damage.
All special bleedtrhough has no counter since resistence ,running away and logout are not counters.
