Game is still in a lull. Wait until Summer. Things will pick up, then come September the player base will drop again.

    Wait til summer?

If the game is in a lull from Sept to May, that's 9 months out of the year.

    That's more than "a lull".

Nobody uses the channel for its intended purpose as there are always premades seen stomping pugs never bothering to check Opvp first so not much point to it anymore I guess.
Also the way pvp is now with either FAW scimitars and PB/lattice/console vapers so prevalent it doesn't make pvp as fun anymore. Its almost becoming like shuttle pvp where its just a nonstop cheese fest, who can spam ISO, PB etc first wins.

For me, I just got burnt out on the grind. I came back with a clean slate and made a new char but never rejoined opvp channel and refuse to get back onto the hamster wheel that is the rep system / fleet system.
The other thing for me is as far as arena matches go, I much preferred escorts online to beamFAW cruisers online. It's not fun. During the golden age of escorts online there were fun dogfights to watch and get into and people actually died. *sigh*

If I were to hang out in any channel, it would be the Tyler Durden channel. Assuming it's still around, I haven't logged into the game for a few months.

Spacebar: the final frustration. These are the voyages of the starship Monetize. Its two-minute mission: to explore strange new consoles, to seek out new bugs and new exploits, to blindly press the spacebar like no man before.

I agree. Whilst the other points that Rylan made specifically regarding PvP are very valid I think herein lies the crux of the issue.

STO was already seen as a grind fest, I'm not interested in comparing it with other MMOs here, some of which may be better or worse, our game is a grind fest. This had a lot of people burnt out, or near burnt out but at least they could get reasonable amount of marks without having to wait a long time for queues to fill during the 3 hr bonus event. The removal of this event meant that the queue population plummeted for all but the two best events, ISE and CEE. The result was now the grind is even more boring with the same repetitive two events over and over again and at the same time for a lower mark payout than before. For many this was the final straw, the last drop in the cup of disappointment that then overflowed. The result is people leaving STO and going off to find something else to do.

Before the hourly changes our teamspeak channel was full of people only playing STO, we would always get a team from the fleet for the marks event, quite often we would run two or more teams. Now not only is it more difficult to get a full 5 man team we often find half those on TS are playing other games, EVE, Skyrim, WoT etc.

The removal of the hourly events putting the emphasis on alternate weekends was a crazy decision, it was stated by many that it would do absolutely nothing for the game except be the final straw that broke the camel's back. I have considerable difficulty in understanding the mentality behind this decision, and many other decisions that Cryptic make recently. They only make any kind of sense if you look at it from the point of wringing as much cash out of the player as possible.

If they don't do something to redress the balance in favour of fun and less grind, in favour of reward and less meh, in favour of the IP and less Dinosuars with lasers, in favour of exploration rather than power creep, in favour of......well I am sure we could go on for a long time, but if it isn't addressed they will imo rue the day.

I pretty much agree with your observations here. Well said.
Can't say I'm suprised though - the first D'An reign was a trainwreck, it's only fitting for the second one to be a total landslide.
To be blunt, I think the people who are here for "Star Trek" and "For the story" are getting about the same treatment that PvPers are.

    You're spot on!
