My Romulan toon has scimitar dreadnought. And every time when I fly out of the system (specially Sol system and New Romulus), my wings get stuck to other ships that are hanging 'round system entry. So sometimes I need to do acrobatic moves to fly out of that mess. Wouldn't be easier, if you could fly through other ships in that manner, than to get stuck to every ship that's in your way?

Welcome to the world of Scimitar piloting.
May be we should start RPing that and switch to shuttles before we enter systems...^^
Yeah. I never use shuttle. This wing stuck si annoying specially when you're doing Tour The Galaxy. And with this acrobatic untangleing you can loose about two minutes of time. And another thing that I'm wondering is why when someone enters system, that you're in, his/hers ship pushes you few km higher or lower?
Though it breaks immersion, only the main body of the ship should have a "footprint". The wings should not. Yes, it would mean that people could move through them, but it MIGHT help eliminate those acrobatics.
Personally I think collision damage should be turned on so we can have the utter joy of exploding into a thousand fiery pieces when coming out of warp in a heavily populated system. I'm just kidding of course.
Or perhaps the map instance system should create more maps with less people in each. Reduce the number of vessels in one instance at a time => lower the chance of getting tangled up in a mess.

Some selective downscaling of the largest ships might be in order. You obviously still want to keep the smallest ships visible. But it is not like anything is insanely proportional to the environment or something. And I am talking about sector space only, and in a quasi-proportional order, where the tiny feels small, and the humongous just feels huge.
I think its hilarious to watch a stuck scim try to get out of the mess. Its a little pettiness in me because I hate how prevalent that ship has become.

In agreement here. Considering you have hands down the best DPS ship in the game, Especially with roflfaw builds - I think bumping into stuff is a fair trade off..

It's not so funny on the receiving end when you warp in behind a group of Scimmys in a smaller ship. Lordy now that's a pain.
As to prevalence well there is little choice for Rommys in the hangar area. It's either the tac carrier or the Scimmy. Personally I don't like either, the first is too much like the HEC which I wouldn't choose on my Feds and the Scimmy is just ugly to me. I would love to see a Rommy version of the Vesta line or even a true carrier, but until then I will just hmm and har over them.
I do think they need to take another look at impact modelling on the larger ships especially in safe home systems and sector space.
I do not mind it as much planetside, which is where it is the worst (large # of players in a small area) but in some STFs the scim pilots just keep ramming into others on the way to the encounter, which slows both ships down and is generally annoying. I try to get out of their way but most of the pilots just run all over everyone else in those cows.

Well with ship switching live now you can switch to your shuttle within seconds.
Also, the engine of the "new" dyson destroyer set has a jump capacity that helps a lot...
Anyway, the Scimitar is very last ship I'd use for tour... If I'd still do that.

You are aware that you can play this game without hangars?
IMO without frigate use its just a fun gimmick, especially if its just one. Wich makes the Scimi the only ROM ship with a Hangar that has actually use.
Although its not that hard to get the Obelisk carrier.
For, I'm picked the scimi for the exact same reason I pick every ship: I like its looks. That it happens to be possibly the strongest ship in game is pure coincidence. I'd even fly it if it sucked, my KDF main still flys his Hegh'ta although it sucks too.
I'd never touch ships like the Bortas or the Odysee, even if they had a build in "win" button, because they simply are so unbelievably ugly IMO.
Although its not that hard to get the Obelisk carrier.
All the cross faction carriers are not rom ships and are equally hard to get. YOU may have a low tier ob carrier from the episode, but that is not possible now. To get it now is as hard as any other cross faction carrier purchase.
The JH carrier might be able to reach near scim dps levels with a rom captain, but most of the rest cannot close the gap. The ob has almost no tac consoles or seats --- it will never be a scim replacement, though its about as big and slow :P
I am not very fond of there not being a collision box.
I am positive to your double negative. Absolutely hate games you play like a ghost, moving like a shadow across the lands. Unless you're supposed to be a ghost of course. Then it is all good!
I have the same problem here, it feels like that game a barrel full of monkeys where my ship is getting hooked on the others. Scimitars must be hot if everyone gets stuck on them

Well, there are several problems causing this. One is that the scimitar is fracking huge. Like, un-necassarily so. Another is too many players in 1 instance just hanging around, not doing anything. At the least they should charge you dilithium or energy credits when you just sit there in the warp zone, or reduce the timer for booting you from 60 minutes to 10 minutes. 3 would be lack of courtesy. When you warp into or out of a sector, take the 15 seconds to move out of the way. Or if you plan on leaving for a bit, log the frack out and stop wasting space.

OR, cryptic could FIX THE GAME so we could LOOK AT GEAR AND SETUPS from other places. Currently, if tinkering on a ship, you need to go to planetside space to see the true values of your items and setup.
You should move out of the way if planning to stay a while, but then again, you should not have to. People in general are rude and a game cannot rely on a "nice" player base to produce a happy utopia, but should instead code in enforced behavior.
Charging money is not fair because of my first point (its required to be there to tinker, which is like 85% of the game). Booting after a short time, for the same reason, is annoying. What is left.... when it spawns someone that just warped in or logged in that area, they need to put them at least (biggest ship size) distance from all other ships. Indeed, it already does this to a point, but the scim is just bigger than the automatic spacing --- and THAT is what would be the first thing to fix (should just be 1 number to change in the code, with any luck).
Regardless of what I think of the Scimitar (not a fan), sector space traffic jams are beyond ridiculous anyway. Space is VAST. It's almost 400,000 km just from Earth to the freaking moon. Having us bumping into each other and getting stuck when we're all clustered around a solar system is unbelievably stupid.

I agree. In particular, for social zone maps such as Earth, K-7, DS9, Drozana, New Romulus, etc. there should be multiple warp-in points, just like there are in Ker'rat Space Warzone.

Exactly. Sector space is like a network of overcrowded fish tanks connected by loading screens, doesn't feel like space travel at all.
If sector space represents actual space, it needs to be way, way, way bigger. If it's supposed to be some kind of astrometric map with units not to scale, turn off the collision detection, those ships aren't actually the size of stars.

IMO, unless some meaningful activity can be added to the space maps in those locations, they should be skipped completely (go straight from sector space to ground and back). An orbital map where the only thing to do is click a "beam down" button is a waste of everyone's time.

You can't check out numbers and things on your ship unless you are in an instanced space like Sol system. Anywhere else and they are not correct. Some use this area to check on the numbers their builds give them on the character sheet.
Allow people to do this in sector space and what you suggest would be viable, until then it is going to stay the way it is.
mad at scimi's prevalence? no one should be. at the end your choices are basically scimi, ar'kif or vanity ship.
Got nothing against the Scim, the problem is its' hit box is so bloody huge. They should do something about it. Even with enough visible space between some of them you still can't get through. Shrink the hit box to the main body of the ship ignoring the wings and there would be no problem.

Sometimes I warp out of the Q'nos system and that urge to get a snack just overpowers me while I wait those 2-3 minutes during the load screen. When I 've returned, I get to eat my tastey snack and watch scimitars get stuck on my d'deridex. Oh, you poor things!!! (luxana voice).
Plus the Scimitar just looks cool, and it's suppose to be huge compared to TNG Era type Enterprise ships, in Nemesis when Picard drives the Enterprise into Shinzon's Scimitar, the Enterprise kind of looked like an overly big nose ring on the Scimitar.

Tell that to the dumbass who was literally flying directly above Janeway in "Year of Hell". Star Trek's sense of scale has never been particularly good.

Best romulan ship in the game........and, oddly, fails to get stuck on stuff.
