STO Sandbox

DISCLAIMER: This is a rather offbeat suggestion, and I do not foresee it happening, though I'd like it to. More of an "I wish" than an "I want".

So you've heard that a new ship, playable species, or item is really great, but it's going to consume a lot of resources and/or time to obtain, and you want to make sure it's worth it before you invest. Maybe you just have a random craving to fly a certain vessel, but you don't think you'll be using it very often, and don't want to bother purchasing it. Can you relate? Then you may also like this idea:

Star Trek Online: Sandbox

This would be a separate entity from the main game, similar to the way the Foundry is separate, possibly with purchasable access. You would create a character; set its rank, skills and traits; give it any ship, gear, and BOffs that you want; and test your creation out on some demo missions in Space or on Ground. Variety would be limited to only a handful of maps, in order to prevent the sandbox from completely replacing the live server.

There would be a single "enemy" faction (I was thinking either Klingons if Federation, Federation if Klingon, and Tal Shiar if Romulan; or a mutual enemy such as the Hirogen) that you could select enemy units from. Or perhaps if you unlock the 1,000 kill accolade for a faction on a Holodeck toon, you could unlock it for Sandbox use.

Before you enter a map, you can place enemy and ally units in a similar way done in the Foundry. The NPC's abilities and stats, as well as your own BOffs' ability selection, would automatically scale to the player's rank. So if you're flying a non-retrofit Akira, make sure you set your toon's rank to Commander, or you you will likely get overwhelmed.

So... Remembering the above disclaimer and not spamming a bunch of "This will never happen because the devs don't have time and/or will think this is a stupid idea" posts, any thoughts?
For personal reasons, I've left Star Trek Online.

Far as I know, selection is limited to specific WIP things that they need tested. But if I'm wrong, please: Enlighten me as to how to unlock infinite selection.

They could call it a Holodeck....

But in all seriousness, they need to give us these kind of abilities in the foundry, it is hard to test a mission designed for Lvl 50 characters with a Cadet in a Miranda....

I tought of calling it that, but they'd probably have to rename the Live server to something else, as it is presently called "Holodeck."

This question is more particularly for the STO devs, I know that it may seem a lot, but looking at where the game is headed to day, and where mostly all other MMOs are headed...

Can STO be a massive sandbox, getting rid of those "playerbase hated Loading screens"?

I understand the Devs can not say, "Yes or No" but opinions on would be great...

    and a more critical question...

Can then the Current STO Engine handle the change to "Sandbox"???

What is the name of the STO engine anyways?? just out of curiosity!!! :D

EDIT: not editing... Mod moved thread!!! now it makes sorta of a sense.... but yeah

An STO sandbox , Meaning a player controlled environment needs to happen. The current Mechanics of STO the game will die out. PVE environments can only go so far.(IE EQ, WOW) The incorporation of LIVE PVP ALL Zones under the Law of each faction. (We don't want a broken war DEC system like EVE.) Space needs to big it is big. The Current Engine will not do this. The DEVs need to get off there butts and go to work.(STO is just almost the same system as City of Hero's with updated and different graphics.) But I guess there is jut not enough intrest in this.
