Aim mode is slow, its very range limited (you cant see what is behind you or in your side away) and the difference in damage is not noticeable 99% of the times. At least for me, i am a tactical and i kill a voth in 3 shots. Using aim mode, i kill em in 3 shots
Zoom the camera back, you can see just fine. I think you just solved for me why people take issue with aim. I don't think most people realize you can zoom out while aiming.
As far as damage, depending your class and your kit, you can one shot ensign level mobs if you manage your powers right. Lt-Cdr level will take a couple hits. There it may not matter. Still, I'd prefer new players get used to using it. Bigger targets like captain-level mobs, elite drones, and bosses/minibosses, the extra damage will stack up. They need to get used to using it first, then they can start deciding when it's appropriate not to.
