Thanks for adding slots but how about...?

Thank you for the increase in inventory slots, but how about a few more slots on ships and personal slots, such as:

SHIPS:
one universal console slot per ship - specifically for one of the various universal consoles out there
space pet slot - instead of taking up a device slot

PERSONAL:
a 'unique' item slot - for unique items, such as the Ophidian cane or the Shard of Possibilities
a tribble slot - for the tribble of your choice
a melee weapon slot - for a melee weapon
a 'ground pet' slot - for a pet

I think the addition of these slots would be beneficial and prevent unnecessary use of our already limited device slots.

This is not to say that we can't use these items in the slots that they go in now, but should have a specially designated slot so that it frees up at least one additional slot for something else.

No, we shouldn't. We've got more than enough ongoing power creep as it is now, without adding more for no reason beyond "it would be nice"

    Nope.

Console and inventory slots are limited for a reason - they force the player to have to make decisions, and occasionally sacrifices, regarding their equipment. It's not really comparable to simply giving us more storage space.
You're right. The work here is very important.

Anyone who says they have never had a moment where they thought that having a tribble, and a unique item, or a pet take up a device slot on the ground was inconvenient at the very least is lying.

IMO, pets are a waste of processing power anyway. Except for combat pets, They actually serve a purpose.

Which doesn't change that you want rampant power creep. Hell, you're asking to double the amount of equipment you can use on ground missions- you've got 4 slots now, you want to add 4 more. Then there's your melee weapon slot for 3 weapons over the current 2...

Why not shoot for the moon- we should be able to equip and hotswitch between 4 personal shields and 6 suits of armor, with a nice weapon loadout reminiscent of early FPS games where you can carry "one of everything" and switch between them at will.

The only thing i REALLY would love to see a slot for is environmental suits. Put them next to the armors and give them a toggle either like weapons or just the regular 2 button thingy to switch them on and off. Now that would be totally awesome.

I agree with Aloishammer in regards to the power creep. To me, the limitation is there in order for people to get creative with builds, especially in PvP. Sure, it might be nice to be able to use an extra good console for your ship, but then it would be OP. That's why fleet level ships are (including C-store ships) are set at 10 consoles.

As for the ground device slots, there once again there for a reason: balance. No one really needs more than two weapon slots with the device slots, it all depends on what the person wishes to use for those slots. On my Romulan, I always keep my Mol'Rihan tribble ready on him because of the damage boost to plasma weapons.

I'm 100% against power creep so I'd not want to see this happen. Maybe as part of a huge systems update which added slots but reduced each item's stats... but otherwise nope.

I have never wanted an extra slot for anything that could be weapon or defence based but a non combat pet slot does not fall into either of these categories and would not affect the power creep issue.
I would like one slot on my characters and one on my ships for each type of pet.
I think pets are great fun and though I have a few I often forget to use them, it would be ideal if any pet placed in a slot would auto launch in any non combat situation.

specially with the slots for space pets on ships you could have a different pet on each ship this would free up lots of bank or inventory slots.

and for any player that doesn't like to use pets they need only leave the slots empty.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
