Question: Farming Loot

aebiohazardaebiohazard Member Posts: 8 Arc User
I was just wondering if there has been an alteration to the amount of loot you are able to pick up doing farming missions since the last update. I ask this question because I feel there has been a change, before the patch I was picking up more loot and a value between 300k and 500k on a daily basis. After the patch I pick up very little loot, I thought it was just a one off so I used my other toons and the result was 150k to 300k in loot value.

I didn't see any thing in the release notes, so has any one else noticed this or am I having a bad loot day on all Toons ?

to be honest i haven't done a farming mission in a while, so i don't know

i used to do them all the time before the first nerf that reduced the payouts to around 300k to 500k (700k if you were lucky)

lately i've been burned out from the winter and anniversary event grinds, so not playing as much

i suppose i'll check later today to see if the loot has gone down again

Yeah, I noticed the decreased loot drop quality in my game.

When I was focused on earning EC I was doing a lot of combat in those "enemy signal" zones. Loot that I had no interest in would be sold on the exchange or to a dealer. Going from 0 EC to 7 million EC was pretty brisk. However, going from 7 million to 10 million was a crawl.

I used to have at least 15 items listed on the exchange at any given time and they sold rather quickly because I generally sold my wares for less EC. On big ticket items I might sell for 100k less than the lowest asking price on the exchange.

Now I can barely list 5 items on the exchange because I can simply sell to a dealer for 50% of the listed value and still make just as much or more than listing it on the exchange. How many slots are there by default in the inventory now, 48? Several times I have nearly maxed out my inventory with loot and went to the exchange. After painstakingly checking on listed prices on the exchange, I generally find that only 2 or 3 items are worth listing on the exchange. The rest are simply sold to a dealer at 50% value because I get more ECs that way. Yeah, and a lot of the loot have a listed value of less than 100k EC, nearly all of them in fact.

The one thing I don't get is why are people listing things on the exchange for less than 50% of the value? For example, say Engineering Console XYZ has a value of 10,000 EC, that means if it is sold to a dealer you would get 5,000 EC for it. However, players list that same console for 4,000 EC or less on the exchange.

I got bored once and decided to buy up several under priced items on the exchange so that I could sell them to a dealer and earn some quick EC.

I have been getting loot like that for a while, it takes me quite a while to get more than 2 million, because all the loot i get is garbage.

The foundry grinders definitely drop less loot. It's been like this for some time now. I want to say around S8 launch, maybe a bit before. I used to get around 500k-700k on average per run, but now I get maybe 150k-200k. I don't do the grinders anymore. Of course that means I don't use the foundry anymore, but whatever.

I was grinding foundry missions last night. I ran the same mission on 3 toons and they all got less than half, quantity and EC value wise, than I got everytime I ran it before the patch.

Loot Cap is connected to the Expertise being earned -> Conclusion : Less Loot because of Double-XP Weekend ....

    2 things:
1)the xp thing, you will notice a change with that, you max out xp in foundry missions, you stop getting drops

2)damage: IF you do not do more than half the damage YOURSELF, you get no drops. So if you shieldless negh'var gets mostly blown up by the last shieldless negh'var, you dont get credit for the kill, and as such no xp and as such no item drop.

I have been experience "garbage loot" for around 3 weeks now. I play STO just about every day for 3 or 4 hours during the weekdays and anywhere from 4 - 8 hours on weekends.

I don't do the queue PvE missions for loot drops where it is a mob frenzy; I do them for the dilithium reward though. I primarily stick with those "enemy signal zones" on the map where I primarily play by myself. I avoid teaming up with anyone else in those maps except if I notice that someone is in trouble. In these regions I only attack Heavy Cruisers and above, I do not bother with weak enemies. From time to time I also look for a fight by scanning anomalies in the unknown regions. Therefore, most of the time when I am farming for loot I am by myself.

I play a Foundry mission once per day just for the dilithium reward so I don't know if loot drops have turned to garbage in those missions.

You miss the point of the exchange. 90 per cent of sto players are just poor game players. If its computer sto or computer chess, they would always be checkmated is 3 minutes. Enjoy just playing the game and dont worry about fixes. STO is not interested in end gamers because they dont buy anything with cash. Thats for the newbees they cater to. Accept this and move on. And stop bragging about ecs credits. They will change it if you tell them its too easy, so pretent its too, too tough. While you buy 100 items on the exchange for a few thousand ecs and sell them a month later for 40K each. 90 percent are just poor players, its the same in life. So just enjoy the game.
