Jupiter Class Idea.

I always wanted to see the Jupiter as a playable ship (and of course the Typhoon)
Kamakaze101 created this thread
I wanted to give out my concept of the Jupiter. I want it to slightly resemble the JHDC and the Kar'Fi, this is my first time making a ship concept so, yeah, be kind.

Jupiter Class Dreadnought Carrier:
The largest vessel built by the Federation. Built to combat other Klingon warships. Slow to maneuver however it can sustain massive amounts of punishment and dealing out as much as it takes.
Two hanger bays full of long-range photon missiles (and of course it can carry other pets)
These warheads launch three at a time and move much faster than traditional torpedoes and can be targeted however they come with shields but they do not have the ranking system as all the other pets (The Photon missile hanger bay may only be equipped on the Jupiter Class Dreadnought Carrier or the fleet version). The advanced version of this pet is Quantum instead of Photon (Meaning more damage) As the elite version comes with a lowered energy signature making them much harder to detect at long-rang.

Base stats for the Jupiter class
Minimum rank: Vice Admiral (50)
Hull: 42,500
Shield Modifier: 1.1
Weapons: 4 fore 3 aft
Hanger Bays: 2
Crew: 3500
Bridge Officers: Lt Cmdr Tact; Lt Cmdr Sci; Cmdr Eng; Lt Univ
Device Slots: 3
Consoles 4 Tact; 4 Eng; 1 Sci;
Turn Rate: 5
Impulse Modifier: 16
Inertia Rating: 20
Bonus Power: 10 Weapon Power 10 Auxiliary Power
Cost: FREE  (2500 Zen)
Can Equip Dual Cannons.

Fleet Variant: Chronus Class (Greek Name for Saturn). Slightly more tactical and "armored" looking with more ridged ends to it.
I'm not putting the whole description in again, just take the stats, man.

Hull: 46,500 vs 42,500
Shield Modifier: 1.15 vs 1.1
Consoles: 4 Tact; 5 Eng; 1 Sci vs 4 Eng
Cost: 20K Fleet credits; four fleet ship module's
(If standard version is owned the cost will be reduced to 20K FC and only one fleet ship module)
Unlocks Uranus costume parts.

Well, that's it, for now. I will be reading comments and idea's so please leave your opinion.
Thank you
and thank you Kamakaze for showing Cryptic that we still care about the Jupiter and the Typhoon
and thank you llichibiclari for the name: Chronus.
P.S. My fingers are bleeding.

Nice, but I have reservations about the use of "Uranus Class" for the upgrade, due to the jokes it will attract. Saturn Class instead, perhaps? The god Chronus (Greek name for the planet Saturn) was Zeus' (Jupiter's) father after all.

Chronus is clever but I was thinking about "Vanquish". Is that too warlike for Star Fleet?
But I'll probably rename it Chronus anyways.

Thanks for the name and input.

I agree; I fancy the use of the Greco-Roman deities. The names for the Carrier Dreadnaught should be Jupiter, Saturn, Caelus (Roman name for Uranus), Zeus, and Cronus. If the art department was creative enough to create more than five variants, then they could expand to the other prime Greco-Roman deities such as Neptune/Possiden, Pluto/Hadies, and Mars/Ares.

Just so we are clear -

    You want to take:
    (1) The KDF Vo'Quv Carrier
    (2) change its Sci-LT Universal
    (3) give it the same console layout as is used on the Bortas Battle Cruiser and Avenger Battle Cruiser
    (4) give it an atrocious Federation model
    (5) give it a fleet version with a new, and therefore "costs money to make", model (which is probably also atrocious)

    and

    (6) to cap all of that off with special hangar pets, that:
(6a) can only be used on these ships
(6b) launch not pets, but torpedoes. And not just any torpedoes! Oh no, these are:

Romulan Hyper-Torpedoes converted to do photon/quantum damage (type dictated by rarity) before being painted red to go faster and being given shields off of some ill-fortunate Bioneural Warhead with the most elite of the bunch also getting the Low-Energy-Signature trait off of the Stalker Stealth Fighter, you know - for consistencies sake.

    ?

    Seriously?

I have nothing against recycling/combining assets (check the signature) but, seriously?

First off, I did have the Vo'Quv's boff layout in mind and changed it's SCI-LT to a UNIV-LT Because it's balanced (I know I can't say the same for the console layout :

    What the...? Why did you...?

Latin letter thorn? Really? You do know that we can just do this: :P (I'd put an other ':P' here, but that would be redund-... looks like I did it anyway:rolleyes:)

Back on topic, I support a playable Jupiter Class, and I really like the photon missile idea (though I wouldn't bind it to the Jupiter only), but, let's face it, the current in-game model of it looks like a deformed blimp with windows and holes poked through it. If it's made a playable starship, it needs a serious model rework.

Plus, those puny little nacelles make it look hysterically out of proportion! :D

Out of all the things that I thought I would be called out for I didn't think it would be this ":

This is a good idea for a Dreadnought Carrier but this is far too Tactical oriented for the Jupiter.
A Dual Heavy Cannon spewing Carrier Escort is not my Idea of the Jupiter it would be better as a Science and Engineering oriented carrier similar to the Tholian Recluse with it's own frigate pets more built for Tanking and Support or Debuffing.

I'm pretty sure the reason why we got the Atrox was because CBS said no to a Starfleet carrier.
I won't lie, I am not a fan of the Jupiter, it is an ugly model that needs a lot of work, but if it's not a carrier what role would it fit? An enormous troop transport maybe, which is pointless in this game, a mobile forward command post. Given it's size it would be high hull/armor low turn rate, really poor maneuverability, a tanking beam boat with heavy emphasis on support buffing/defuffing, high science and engineering specialization, tactical not so much.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
    Oh Hell NO to ARC

I just got so mad when the K.D.F. got their giant playable dreadnought and the Fed got nothing.
(I know the K.D.F. are being neglected now)

Which Dreadnaught is that? The Negh'Var, and Vo'Quv have been here nearly from the start. The Bortasq' arrived as a player ship. If it is a dreadnaught NPC ship, the NPC ship came out after the PC ship did. With the exception of the Nausicaan ships, the only major dreadnaughts I can think of is the Gorn Balaur and Orion Warbarge dreadnaughts.

Well, guess a version 2 of my Jupiter class concept. It's going to be a science and engineering focused. You can expect it tonight guys. I hope you think higher of than this version.
Also I was thinking about a Typhoon Class Concept. I'll make it engineering and tactical focused.

    Thanks for the input.
