I dare the Devs to do a livestream of a five man team in all Gal Dreads (fleet or no?) completing Hive Space Elite.

Edit: From Snoggysnack's suggestion: I'd be open to any ESTF for the livestream if HSE is not ideal.

They updated the ships, didn't they?;) Cryptic! Stand behind your product - prove to us that the Gal X is worth something! :)

I can tell you I can do that with a group of friends.

The Gal-X is tankier, and slightly more beefier now. It WILL not go down without a fight.

They never stated they "fixed" the ship. They simply made some changes. Beyond that I do not believe I could even do Hive with a team of Odysseys either - and it is the flagship Class. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

I don't believe any team of one ship could do hive elte. Maybe scimmitars. You need a mix of dps tank and focused escort damage imo.

These have to stop. This is accomplishing nothing. Your little lobby is becoming the Nigerian Princes of the STO forums.

They didn't fix it. They didn't claim that as their goal. They made the ships how they are for a reason. You know what they did do? They dropped 3 things people have been asking for for over a year.

They gave the GX saucer seperation.
They dropped a fleet version of the GX.
They stuck a hangar on a galaxy variant.

Then they used all the ferver the community had whipped up over the galaxy class, somewhat unwisely, I'll admit, as a springboard to advertise their finally coming through and finishing a release over 12 months in the making.

You were made no promises and your demands were unrealistic. You think you're being modest by expecting a ship to just be a copy paste but better version of ships that are more important canonically and already in-game.

That 700+ page thread your kind keeps shrieking about isn't some kind of massive achievement, it's an exhibition of everything that's wrong with this community.

The most doted on, spoiled, self centered, and catered-to faction of the community that's used its massive cash lobby to disenfranchise the other two factions of any uniqueness they might have all came together in a massive lemming-like fervor where you broke out the jergens and polished each others' wish lists for months on end about a stupid hero ship because you didn't feel like learning how to play the thing in the niche it filled.

A laterally-related release was announced, and you swarmed because it didn't immediately obsolete at least 3 different ships in one fell swoop, and you polluted the forums with your thankless whining for weeks on end like some kind of ironically-probably-mostly-secular-biblical-plague-of-convention-attending-locusts.

Meanwhile, the other two factions are so used to actual neglect that they haven't even really bothered trying to smack you delusional babies back into reality.

    The GX is fine.
It doesn't need to be a scimitar, and it shouldn't be.
    It shouldn't be a bortas.
    It shouldn't be an oddy.

It should be a decades old design that's had its service life extended and been refitted to be crammed into a role it wasn't originally designed for, just like it is.

If you want an cheap decloaker instadeathpulse, run a scimitar.

If you want a dreadnought gunboat, get a bort of a JHDC or a tac oddy.

The galaxy x is a fanservice novelty that has no serious place in this game and is now vastly superior to it's neglected counterpart: the Guramba, and that might not be enough for you, but it's just going to have to be.

    Jesus, Killdozer...

I just want to see the devs use their own handiwork - I meant for it to be fun. A challenge, yes, but still good fun, with the added bonus of them getting to advertise their product.

You're right. I overreacted. Double threads annoy me, and I'm just getting tired of all the topic posts on the lame GX, I'm ready to see something new already.

Your idea didn't deserve that, and it would be cool to see a dev team stream an elite stf. It was always cool to see the bioware devs stream ME3MP runs back in the day.

I'm sorry. I'll edit my post.

Agreed, for the most part. I don't think any 1 ship should make any other obsolete, at least, not in the sense that out of 2 ships of the same era, 1 shod be vastly superior. Its just not how it should work. I know full well most of my faction (feds) are cry babies who think everything should be perfectly equal, that ships like the galaxy and galx should be exactly on par or better than ships like the mogh and scimitar. But I also think that, gamewise, they should be on par in different ways. Even though the galaxy and the dreadnaught are old in relation to the game setting, they are still iconic ships capable of the best performance given the right captain and gear. This was a needed upgrade to bring them in line with the newer ships. It didn't put them over the top, and it shouldn't have.

I see almost every dreadnaught thread start with a complaint about how it doesn't have a ltcomm or better tac station, or a ltcomm universal so they can use it as one. How do you get it in your minds that just because its called a dreadnaught, it should be a tactical based ship? Its a fracking galaxy with a super laser and 3 nacelles. That's it. Its not on odyssey tac cruiser, its not a scimitar, and its not a damn escort. Its a cruiser. It's eng based. You should be thankful that it even has an ens universal station. And its getting a hangar, saucer sep, etc.

I'll let you all in on a secret. No one with their head screwed on right gives a flying frack that you won't be buying it. No one cares that you think it should have this or that. It got the upgrade it needed. Its easily in the same class as most other tier 5 ships now. So stop your crying, stop your complaining, and either use it or don't.

You are the one talking about how they "fixed" the ships, so clearly your statement was not about them doing it for fun - you were trying to prove that the ships were not fixed. And as I stated, your "challenge" is not doable. It is not doable with 5 Galaxy X, not doable with 5 Odyssey, not doable with 5 Excelsiors, not doable with 5 Bortasqu, etc.

What makes it impossible? Nakedsnake001 said that he could do it with some friends. I take it he's bluffing? Also, I'm not trying to prove that the ship wasn't 'fixed'; I'm trying to find a way for the Devs to show us that they made the ship more useful. If the challenge I devised is not reasonable, do you have any suggestions for a better test of capabilities? If so, I'll be sure to add them to the OP.

And, I agree that 'fixed' is the wrong word to use (I forgot how important semantics are on this forum; I guess it's the price you pay for dealing with intelligent people :P), so I changed my OP.

Hey, don't worry about it. We all feel angry and frustrated from time to time. No hard feelings? :)

I think that's a great idea. But I think you chose the wrong STF. I think you should have the devs complete the same STF that most players use to parse their DPS. So ISE seems far more appropriate. In fact, the devs could do something really cool, they could parse their own DPS. Do it once with just regular Galaxy X's. And then again with the Fleet version. And see if the DPS improved. Seems like a great way to stack Dev play up against the players.

Tankier? It is as "tanky" as the Assault Cruiser was before cruiser powers were added.

Your argument is nonsense and anyone who has used the Ody, the AHCR, or even the Bortasqu can agree.

I use the odyssey all the time and I'd never try hive elite with 5 of them. It'd be a huge waste of time. I don't think 5 people even own the bortasqe. :)
