I normally play a Raptor captain on my KDF, but I want to try something a bit different with a Battlecruiser. I have a free Bortas hanging around I want to use for PvE.

here is the link to the build, any suggestions or recommendations on it's lode out or BOFFs?

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Gearwise, I'd say swap one of the aft beam arrays for the 360 array from Sphere of Influence and snag that nice AP bonus 2-set with the Obelisk Core. Also, why oh why are you not running Plasmonic Leech on it? That should be one of your first priorities as a KDF player - especially as a tactical captain and extra-especially if you're planning on running beam boats.

Also, drop the subsystem targetting for another BFAW and Attack Pattern Beta. I assume you're not wanting to run Aux2Bat, so I'd suggest replacing EPtS III with Aux2SIF II and the EPtE to EPtS. You're not running with high capacity shielding, so the shield heal of EPtS 3 is not needed and you'll get all the power(and therefor resistance and regen) you need from Plasmonic Leech(especially when you start broadsiding BFAW beams).

Yeah I thought I had added the 360 AP array.

Because I've never bought a KDF ship from the C-Store, how much of a deal breaker is it. I think I can scrape together Z 1000 if it's necessary.

    Thanks so far.

Leech is worth EVERY PENNY. It is without a doubt the single best console in game... and Klinks get it for a measly 1k Zen. You can grind dil for a week and get 1k Zen. To try and buy it on Fed side now... 20,000,000 ec.

Also, when you get it don't forget to put 9 points in flow capacitors.

Thanks. I can grind whilst I wait for the dil discount project on the fleet AP's to be finished.

Which consoles should I replace with the leach?

In my builds it usually ends up in a science console slot. Keep your tac consoles and your armors/EPS/RCS. On a tactically focused ship science consoles are for toys.

Also to consider... once you start using it you can dump points from Warp Core Efficiency and anything you put in Shield or Engine performance... the Leech will give you all the power you need.

Here's my suggestion - take it for what it's worth but understand that these suggestions are meant to work in concert with one another. Your mileage may vary if you take it piecemeal.

Weapons - Someone else already suggested the 360 AP weapon. Switch one beam out for that one and you're golden.

D/I/W/S - When you can, the Mk-XII Borg Set is a MUST HAVE. It is arguably the BEST space set in the game since ... well, since ever. Even if you use the 2-piece deflector/engines and a different shield you will really enjoy the hull heal proc. When you get the 3-piece you're gonna get the shield regen AND the Borg tractor beam which is gonna be nice for you.

Devices - Whatever works for ya.

Consoles - Dump the Tetraberniums. 2x Neutronium and 2x SIF Generators. Replace the Induction Coil console with the Plasmonic Leech. When you can get it - get the Borg Assimilated console to replace one of the SIF consoles with. Another good thing to get would be the Kinetic Cutting Beam as the 2-piece bonus will give extra weapon power. If you're getting Fleet consoles, pick the Neutroniums with +hull heal and +hull HP.

    BO Skills:
Tactical: I prefer Omega, but Beta would work better in PvE
    TT-1, FAW-2, APB-2/APO-1
    TT-1, FAW-2

Engineering: you have lots of options - Warp Plasma, Aux to SIF, Aux to ID, DEM. Here is just one suggestion for PvE.
    EPtS-1, AtID-1, AtSIF-2, EWP-2
    EPtS-1

The rationale for this is that the Obelisk Warp Core gives a nice bump to Auxiliary power so when pared with the mathcing DOffs Auxilary Power to Inertial Dampeners and Structural Integrity Field are fast cycling Aux Power based heals and resists that will help your hull healing and turn rate as well as giving a resist to holds. You only really need Emergency to Shields-1 with the Borg Shield. It's regenerating fast as hell already. Eject Warp Plasma-2 is a nice hold for all the spam that the PvE ships will throw at you IF you feel that you're maneuverable enough for it when using Evasive Maneuvers. If not - throw in a DEM-3 or whatever you want.

If you're finding that you're still not getting enough weapon power even with the Plasmonic Leech and the 2-piece Assimilated Console/KCB then consider going back with an Emergency to Weapons-1. If you have the cash for the Marion Frances Dulmer doff that gives you the weapon energy drain resist with DEM-3, this would be perfect here. But that Doff is priced beyond the reach of most people. But, honestly, you don't need it for PvE.

Engineering powers are just going to have to be tailored to what best suits your style. Just remember that your DOffs choices are going to need to match.

If you can find the BOff on the exchange with SIF-3, then you could try that in the Cmdr slot for excellent hull healing and have room for an RSP-2, EWP-1 or DEM-2 in the LtCmdr spot.

    Science:
    TSS-1/PH-1, HE-2
If you use Attack Pattern Beta or if you're not using Aux2ID, then use a Polarize Hull for the hold resists. If you are using Omega and/or Aux2ID, try Transfer Shield Strength. Use Hazards-2 for the better hull healing. In concert with the SIF consoles/Assimilated console/Borg Set you will heal lots and lots and lots with HE-2. Honestly, however, you ought to just tank out any tractor beams in any case so I really suggest TSS-1 over PH.

Power settings: 100/50/25/25. Really don't have to do anything else for most PvE. If you're getting hammered then just balance out your power to 50/50/50/50 and tank up till you're healed up and then back to all weapons.

DOffs: First note - the prices for purple doffs is stupid. They're being pushed to insane levels by PvP'rs and the "Pokemon" collectors. Blues work just as good for PvE and are, for the most part, reasonably priced. Second note - you're a big frickin Titanic so you gotta stick it out for the long haul. Pick doffs that enhance your engineering skills or increase your defense.

2 Shield Distribution Doffs: chance to give shield heal w/ Brace for Impact,
2 Damage Control Engineers (one of each type): chance to reduces cool-down on Emergency Power to X and chance to extra hull heal-over-time effect to Auxiliary Power to Structural Integrity Field
Matter-Antimatter Specialist: Increase Energy Resistance and Buff duration when using Auxiliary Power to Inertial Dampeners

    Afterthoughts:
There's a good chance you might be way overdue for a Captain's skill review and respec. I'm not going to go to that depth since this is already way too long. Go to hilbertguide.com and read the basics section about keybinds and game settings and for more suggestions on cruiser builds.

    Have fun.

This is a really nice looking build. I'll have to save it for now, as I haven't started the Rep grind on my KDF yet,

I'll defiantly look into a skills respec as I started the character 3 or so years ago before I knew what the skills did.

    Thanks a lot :).

I'm also curious on how to improve my Bortas' damage output, in both PvE and 1v1 matches.

    How would the setup change?

(Note: I only have the Command version though. My captain is an Engineer.)

There's probably not really much you can do outside of attack pattern beta/BFAW and possibly running a DEM build.

There's always a decloaking alpha build with cannons for it, but you pay a high price for that and I'd really only suggest it if you're running the Tactical version. The Bortasqu is a big ship with some big teeth, but's not a very flexible beast. If you're serious about wanting more firepower, I would honestly recommend looking into the Mogh; it is the gold standard of KDF Battlecruisers.

You really don't need three hull heals, especially if one of them is aux2SIF.

You DO need Aux2damp. It transforms this ship. Sync the cooldown with evasive maneuvers and the beast will dance for you.

Also 2x tt1 will serve you better than tt3. You can get away with one copy of tac team if you want but that LCdr. tac slot should have an attack pattern in it.

Some food for thought. The Commander level engineering power is the most powerful ability your ship can use... why have something like RSP 3 there that has a long cooldown on it? Use Aux2SIF 3 instead for a good hull heal, great damage resistance and a short cooldown. Ideally you want to be able to tag that Commander level power very often.

Also, TT 2 is no better than TT 1... so use TT 1 instead.

    LC Tac: TT1, BFAW 2, APB 1

    CM Eng: EPtW 1, RSP 1, EPtS 3, Aux2SIF 3

One point of advice I'd offer is that multiple copies of FAW seem a bit of a waste to me thanks to the long shared cooldown (20s on a second copy vs 30s basic). You can maintain almost the same uptime using a pair of beam cooldown reduction Energy Weapon Officer DOffs - I do this in conjunction with BAFAW 3 (if you're going to spend DOff slots on an ability, best it's the higher-level version).

This makes for near-optimal uptime on FAW3 without resorting to multiple copies or A2B. In PVP, this can make a Bortas an impressive spam supressor. One of my more memorable recent PVPs was a 10v10 where I think I kept a trio of enemy carriers on the back foot for most of the match.
