Hi

Captain Smirk,

i want to send my congrats about new job in Cryptic and i wish you best luck and many cool idea about streams.

Here is suggestion about Forums and live stream,

Could you make arrangement to have guest on live stream like D'Angelo to address the question from players of Star Trek Online.
You could make a Thread every 2 months where players could ask their question which you can address to team of Cryptic live on stream.
Each stream can be themed about something like new content, bugs, pvp, players ideas etc etc..

Today it has been custom for that kinda of communication between players and Devs for example Blizzard answering question of new MOBA coming out on stream, and Team who are making game Warframe.

I really think that this is a good and excellent way of communication and absolute epic brainstorming and feedback from first hand where players wanting this game to go in future.

STO Community is very passionate and wanting in some way to know that their voice and questions are heard & answered from Devs.

They tried that, and stopped. There was too much flaming. People took everything on that list as a "written in stone" promise and rage ensued when those "promises" went unfulfilled. It got ugly.

This! Their ability to outdo their own failures is quite impressive. If only this power could be harnessed for good.

Thats why i have suggested a sticky thread where players can ask questions before the live stream in that way the flaming of players and TRIBBLE conduct could be avoided :D

no, ask Cryptic never got quite that bad, I'm talking about Stahl's "State of the Game" posts from just before he left STO the first time. On his return he even mentioned that he'd learned to keep his mouth shut about what might or might not make it into the game before the final decision was actually made because of the reasons I listed above.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

We are currently brainstorming on better ways to involve our team with direct community feedback, but the ideas are still up in the air right now. We used to have to "Ask Cryptic" and the "State of the Game" posts, and we would all agree that we want to re-create something similar. We just have to figure out the best way for our team to do so.

Special guests won't be unheard of, in fact, BranFlakes will be jumping in chat with everyone on Twitch this Friday for my livestream, so make sure to stop by and say hello!

As far as Stephen and other devs, it is not outside the possibility for them to come to future livestreams, but for the time being, we don't have any guest cameos scheduled. Maybe sometime in the future we can set that up!

    Thanks again!

So much for Stephen being more "open" and "communicative" with the STO community as EP. I haven't seen a single post or news item from him since his "re-introduction" as EP.

A post from 3+ weeks ago, does not inspire me with the "active EP" confidence. Try again.
