B'Rel Retrofit torpedo-boat builds?

Been digging through some old posts (9 months+) trying to work out some better builds for my retro B'rel before I decide on a Fleet version.

Can anyone share tips/tricks on this build idea?

My results have been... lackluster... for the most part, with several rather nice moments of dps jumping well above my other builds.

From a gear perspective, I've a mix of 2x Clusters, a rapid reload, and an Advanced Fleet Transphasic, with TS3 and 2 available up front. In the rear I have either a Transphasic mine or a Bio-neural, plus a tractor beam mine for utility.

I am running 3 purple torpedo doffs (the limit), plus gravity well aftershock at the moment.

I do have the 2-piece Breen bonus, plus Rule 62, Tacyokinetic, and Assimilated consoles. Tac consoles are all Spire. Ive thrown in an Aceton Assimilator as well, Barrier Field for getaways when decloaked, and I've been playing with a Subspace Integration Circuit as well.

Sadly, I do not yet have access to the Rom console on this alt... yet.

BOffs also include Gravity Well III and II.

The name of the game is going to be spike damage. If you want dps you might as well slap cannons on it.

Understood. I was watching the ACT output for spikes, and just not seeing it hit. Current Crit Hit is about 14%, Crit damage is ~81%, I can adjust this a little with some changes to the tac consoles (and getting the Rom console when I can)

It seemed so infrequent, I thought perhaps some tweaks to the build itself and/or tactic changes/tips were in order?

I'm so used to my main's PVE Mogh setup hitting sustained DPS for nearly as much as the STF-tuned Scimitars, it may just be perception, as suggested

I prefer quantums over transphasics, but you are depending on others for more shield stripping.

I do like the breen cluster torpedos, but the other transphasics either feel lightweight (the rapid fire torps) or the recharge leaves something to be desired (the normal transphasics). I do occasionally go back to a transphasic setup now and again.

The other big issue with the transphasics is the delay. With the 8 second reload for quantums, i almost always have quantum torpedos ready to fire, whereas i feel the delay in the transphasic setup.

For elite stfs, it is more a survival problem for me, though. Big bursts of dps can be dangerous to my health even without hy tricobalts.

Anyway, i am still getting back into it, using a brel retro (not fleet). I run all quantum torpedos (from green mk xi to purple mk xii), all quantum consoles (2 blue mk xi and a purple mk xi).

Engineering comsoles are Rule 62, the kinetic damage protection armor, and the borg console (for crits). Sci consoles to do grav well better.

Reman deflector for stealth/dont have better, KHG mk xi impulse and shields for the torpedo bonus.

    Boffs (all Nausicaan Pirates):
Commander Sci with polarize hull, tractor repulsors, grav well 1 & 3
    LtCom Tac with TT1, TS2, TS3
    Lt Tac with THY1, THY2
    Lt Eng with ET1, EPtSIF2

Of course, my goal is to avoid out-DPSing the aggro, and throw down CC stuff as needed. I might go to transphasic again for that reason... or i can go back to haz emitters, even if a tractor repulsors cannot be replaced for the times when you need it.
