An idea on shield skins

No idea if this has been brought up in a post, however I also don't wish to be yelled at for necro an old post. Damned if I do damned if I don't.

SO my idea is that every shield that offers a unique ship skin overlay, should be put onto your ship customization so you are not stuck with the obsolete shield, but can keep the look. Aegis, comes to mind with this. Awesome shield effect but shield is weak in todays shield standards.

Just an idea.

Definitely been requested before, but if there is no recent thread then a new one is better than a necro post.

As to the request itself, I would definitely approve of this. There are some visual styles that I do like, but they are on equipment that I don't use because I find other pieces more effective.

The universe has a wonderful sense of humor. The trick is learning how to take a joke.

I was hoping they'll do something like this. But with this company I don't hold my breath for cool things now. It'd probably go in as a cash shop thing at best..

Seconded, they need to do this already.

The only argument against it is that PvPers will claim it allows them to tell what their enemy is using and adapt, but that's a dumb argument seeing as it's most conducive to hide your shield visuals for that same reason when pvping, seeing as swapping gear to adapt to enemies mid match isn't considered poor form in this community. Apparently any hotdog can lose, but all the real pros just spend a bunch of money on a backpack crammed full of every possible gear combination ever.

Back on topic though, I would support and grind for unlockable ship set visuals.
