The absence of Mirror Universe from the events schedule has created an inability to procure expertise quickly within a short time frame. Relatively new characters are therefore stalled from advancing in reputations and fulfilling requisitions, there are a number of other detrimental effects also such as newer characters not being able to level as quickly as before.
An additional issue is that fleet holding projects that utilise Expertise in smaller to medium-sized fleets have been choked, which again, stalls advancement overall.
I am an avid doffer, accruing expertise over time is not a problem but in order to be effective in the short term, the Mirror Universe event was semper primus. It was a vital stimulus package that helped with the establishment of a character, and a reliable boost to expertise quantities.
A bonus XP weekend would help reduce the potential lost progress caused by the removal of the Mirror event.
I've got 1 million on one character who's never run Mirror Invasion, and that number is increasing all the time, despite her doing her rep hand-ins. (Though admittedly, she's not doing Omega rep all that often as she refuses to do most the STF's).
They could give us double xp for doing doff missions. That could be a solution, no need for bonus xp weekend, that would attract smaller number of players. They should stick with dilithium and marks.
Or they could bring back mirror incuirsion in the form they promise, junk the weekends concept and give us a couple of daily wrappers. One that give 50% extra marks and one 50% extra dil for an hour.
I also have missed the mirror events as I have finally taken up residence klinkside with a sister fleet to my main fed fleet. Trying to level my klink quickly is a real issue without the mirror events.
I don't think these should be whole weekend events as I imagine there are many players (myself included) would consider it a waste on already established toons with millions of xp.
This for me is probably the only event that arguably should never have been taken away from daily. Although I don't rate this weekends rewars too highly when I think of what I would have gotten over this period of time during bonus events normally.
This has put me off starting a new toon for the now on the basis too much time without these events (I too am an avid doffer) would be a painin my TRIBBLE and detract from my normal style of play.
I have noticed even with xp boosters on and some doffpacks sent from my main to boost my doffing abilities early on it has taken noticeably longer for me to level my klink toon to even lvl 41 than it ever has for any of my other toons.
Perhaps this is a little trick to get us to spend out more in between rank grades (new ships etc) as I've seemingly spent more time between ships.
Though as a side note and off topic the klingon side is way underrated, and indeed undersupported as I am now discovering. I think its awesome! I love the worf voiceovers and the gameplay is awesome.
Honestly cryptic as a long time fed player just trying klinkside sort this out, its so good yet I played sto for a year without even thinking about it because it simply was not made appealing to me from whatt I saw or read. Give it more variety and stuff, if you make it, they will come dudes.
EDIT: bonus lobi weekend you say? Make it so I say!!!
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".
At least you guys can play. I've been waiting a week and a half just to log in. Would be nice to see what i am missing. All I can do is watch the forums.
Seeing how Mirror events most likely wont make a comeback until S9, I wouldnt mind a Q Bonus XP weekend. We had one of those for a event not terribly long ago, was pretty nice for leveling alts. (Though the Q xp boost+ mirror was kinda insane, 40+ in a day wasnt even difficult or very time consuming.)

Of course people are going to reply to this saying they have more than enough. I would too if I took my main into account.
I'm sure the OP means new characters that have been made since the dailies were removed have more difficulty gaining more expertise.
One thing that may help with, could be making eSTF's a bonus XP pool. (if not already, I forget or never took it into account) Much like the Borg Red Alerts in sector space.

NO!
Learn to play doff missions, and if you dont wont it, tough luck. No one needs fing bonus XP. Oh and yes, buy the boost if you dont have enough...

From the change i made 2 new toons, i have 0 (zero) problems to make XP, all ways above 100k.
Just do doff missions, and defend daily missions, you will have more then enough XP and dilitium.

By playing my character, as opposed to holding out my hand and screeching 'GIMME MORE XP FOR NO EFFORT!!!!', my Romulan who never did any dailies is now about half-way through her Rep's, and has over 1 million expertise saved up.
Seeing how Mirror events most likely wont make a comeback until S9
How do you come to that conclusion ? :
March
New event along the lines of the Crystalline Entity event [2], rumored to be the revamped Mirror Universe Incursion.
Mirror is probably the next "Grindiversary", when the current "Super Phun Thyme" with Mini-Q's ends ;P ...
=> next week(end)/month, WILL probably be some kind of Bonus XP thingie ... assuming it's really "Mirror Incursion", and they haven't nerfed it to death ...
Patch Notes : Resolved an Issue, where people would accidently experience Fun.
Hehehe trying to level a klingon without mirror universe..
back in the day we did not level our klinks thusly...
We had very little to level them with ....
And yet there were those of us who leveled them to 50 in but a week or 2 and only casually playing them.
To be honest the mirror universe is boring and tedious...yet another reason why this game suffers......I am glad they removed it from existence thus far.....a waste of programming..no challenge. Much like crystalline catastrophe was early on.....
They then remade it to be what it is today. More of a challenge...well mostly.....sorta
Today we fight the GAULS......monstrous and HAIRY beyond reason.
Of course people are going to reply to this saying they have more than enough. I would too if I took my main into account.

I have created more characters and none of them have problems with expertise gaining, that are max level. Just a project away from completing tier 5 Rommy rep on one and still have well over 600k worth of it. That's with two different sets of BOFFs one for ground and one for space trained up to max on their skills.
All the skill points are converted to expertise at max level. Doffing away willl give some decent rewards, especially on critting, doing the mission dailies to get marks also provides expertise. throw in some of the dil dailies and you get both.
I am not saying there shouldn't be one, I am just saying the means of gaining expertise are there you just have t look around for the best ones.
It just takes some looking around to find out the info needed. I used to have a problem making dil when I started until I read a post by, I think it was, Cosmic in a thread about it where he mentioned a lot of the missions that give dil, and since then I have pretty much always been above my refining cap.
It is a question of patience. Mirror was good because you could get impressive levels of Dil and XP for no real work at all, so you could blast away on all rep systems at once on top of having enough for fleet projects or rep gear purchases.
On this toon I never needed it. I played through the entire content and got more than enough XP to hit level 50 and these days I hover around the 200k mark just from playing the game and dabbling in doffing.
As others have said just enjoy the game, slow down and the toon will level up in no time. What is the point in skipping nearly all of the content of the game, instead just repeating the same shooting gallery over and over during certain parts of the day just to repeat an even smaller collection of endgame content once you hit lvl 50?
So now your telling me how to play MY game, theres a reason I don't and won't ever Doff its boring and time consuming. If they actually made it like NW and had the ability to do doffing while not ingame it would make me do it more since I don't need to vpn to the game from work then.
You forget this game has a lot of players who work a lot and can't just login to Doff as easily as you do we have jobs, lives and things that get in the way of logging in. So when I login at home at night after a 9 hour shift at work I don't want to play the clicky clicky doff thing.
Since they took out MU I have ran out of XP on my characters because I spend it on training officers, fleet building and repping my Science Cat so it can be used quite liberally

No Drama, No Fuss, Just good old fashioned pew pew!

Game companies have always told players how to play in a general sense. It Is their game after all not ours. How you spend your time has always been your choice.
If I want to make a lot of Omega marks I have to do STFs, if I want the MKXII Omega Rep gear I need BNPs and so would have to do elite STFs. As it is because I don't have the confidence to do them I was stuck with Defera Invasion and Red Alerts for marks and am restricted to MKXI gear. Though I did get 10 BNPs for completing tier 5 Omega Rep, which I completed from doing only Defera and Red Alerts it took me longer than those doing the STFs.
Do you think I found my Omega Rep levelling as a fun and interesting experience? I can tell you I didn't, but I did it a bit at a time when I felt in the mood for it. Choices have consequences and you need to accept he consequences of them as I did with Omega Rep.
It's a matter of prioritising where you spend the points. What is more important to you work on first and the rest as and when you get the chance. The same goes with where you spend the time in the game, if you know you are going to need expertise for something then you are going to have to take the time out to get it.
As I said in my previous post, I am not saying there shouldn't be a bonus expertise weekend, and I have a sneaking suspicion there will be one given the past two fit with what used to be available on the hourlies. Personally I would not be surprised to see the next bonus weekend event being for expertise.

My god how much stupidity and false excuses in hear.
So you have TIME to log in the GAME and play it, but you dont HAVE time to send doffs on missions. FFS how arrogant (i would say something much worse then this, but i have been told i need to watch my french mouth) can you be, there is no extra time needed to do it, you log in, you send them, and next day you log in, collect done missions, and send them again (and this is if you dont have time to log in the game more then once).
Your response tells me that you are not enjoying this game at all.
you are captain of your ships, doff missions would be the first thing you start your morning for every day as long as you are the captain. It is sad that only thing you enjoy is grind, and to be worse you dont wont to grind, you just wont things to be handed over.
talk about selfrighteousness.
And ooo buhuuu, MY game, it is a game whit a set of rules. AS you need TO DO specific things to get dili., marks, Ec you also need TO DO specific things to get XP.
Maybe just for you cryptic should make whenever you log in, you get everything in first 5 min, so you could log out till the next day, sure just for you.
if you dont like it, dont get hit by the door on the way out. No one will miss you.

Ridiculous statement? Yes. Yes it is.
You don't work for something, you don't appreciate it. You want to spend xp? Earn it. Don't want to? Plenty of other things you can do for fun. Both ingame and out of it.
Learn to play doff missions, and if you dont wont it, tough luck. No one needs fing bonus XP. Oh and yes, buy the boost if you dont have enough...
Crying over least important feature of the game.
I am not crying. I am pointing out a material shortfall.
I have doffed since its inception. I am probably much more versed with the system than you would assume. In addition I know exactly the most efficient methods to accrue expertise, and therefore I have the sense to understand that without Mirror, expertise acquisition is throttled. There is no single way to rival Mirror for short-term income.
They realised their change to calendar events affected mark procurement, so they had a bonus weekend. I simply propose a corresponding measure.
If you disagree with me you likely are not in the camp of players that roll characters often. That's fine, I have millions on my older dudes too. But with a new character facing four reps to level and bases to feed, do not tell me existing methods are sufficient to progress comfortably - unless you are a certain minority of doffers that live, breathe and sleep in STO.

You have 50 levels to gain on new characters before rep system kicks in, DOFF system kicks in around level 11. Do all the missions, set up DOFF projects as you go and you should be fine. Fleets are meant to be group projects, donate what you can when you can. You are not meant to do the solo.

However I would not be surprised to see a bonus expertise weekend.
Even better idea, how about getting rid of the stupid weekend events (I'd really love to see the r3tard who thought up this idea get b!tchslapped) and bring back the hourly events. Problem solved, everyone's happy.
I don't care what the header says, I am not now, nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be, an "ARC user".

In my opinion; "Oh, Gods. No. Not XP-weekend!"
You don't have millions on new characters.
Valdus | Charn | Costello | Typhus | Thyran
True. -But I have never felt short on XP in this game.
I've just had a second character's Rep grind grind to a halt due to a lack of XP, so yeah, i'll take a Bonus XP weekend.
Or, y'know, just reinstate Mirror Universe Incursion until you release it's revamp.
Or release it's revamp.
I've got 1 million on one character who's never run Mirror Invasion, and that number is increasing all the time, despite her doing her rep hand-ins. (Though admittedly, she's not doing Omega rep all that often as she refuses to do most the STF's).
The only time it's useful is leveling a toon or leveling your BoFF's, and even then, the game offers enough with just missions and a few STF's ...
So, i'm in the "please NO", don't waste a weekend event on that, camp as well.
More bonus Dilithium, Mark and maybe a bonus Lobi weekend would be a better option.

XP is so easy to get..
I would like and hope its Dil again as someone who plays when it suits me finding time to mark grind then hit daily dil limit is painful.
DOFFING takes all of 2 mins per toon and you get enough XP from that alone not to mention the from reps.. mark grinding etc etc
