Cryptic: Suggestion...New C-Store Science Destroyer

Cryptic,

I have a suggestion regarding the new C-Store Science Destroyers...

Some of the angst that some players have had with these is that there is little difference between the three versions except for some minor skin variations, distribution of console slots, and a single unique console per version. In a game where 50% or more of your equipped consoles are universal...console slot distribution is a minor perk...and the skins are nice, but are very similar from one version to another.

Here is my idea...and I don't think that you would find many that would disagree with this...

First, none of the base stats change...the only thing that changes is the status of the "permenant" cannon...

Change the three pack to the following:

Strategic (Eng/Sci): Remove the cannon and replace it with a single hanger -- basically make this vessel a science-oriented escort carrier. Going to "tactical" mode activates the hangar, as well as shifts the Sci to a Lt Cdr and the Tac to Commander.

Reconnassiance (Science): Replace the cannon with a protonic beam array. No other changes

Tactical (Tac): exactly the way it is now -- four tac slots, cannon remains.

Frankly, for most sci captains, I think that the "tactical" mode goes unused 90% or more of the time simply because Science ships tend to use beams....and the cannon does not synergize well with a beam boat setup at all.

This is just a suggestion...and there is a precedent set...remember that you changed the Arkif about a week or two after you had released it into the C-Store also -- from a tactical vessel to an escort carrier I think....

There is a slight problem with the Strategic option and that has to do with switching modes. If people like Science Mode, then they can just use the hangar and switch back and the pet will still remain, but uncontrollable. Maybe have a unique uncontrollable pet that is only present while in tactical mode. So if you switch to Science Mode, then the pet docks.

I don't know what ships you guys were handed, but all 3 factions of my ships have significant changes to their respective part selections, so much so it's hard to choose!

And hangers? Ugh, I love my cannon, that's the whole point. There are already plenty of hanger ships in STO belching gnats all over my battle space.

Nope, it's awesome as it is and I think if you go back and really look at the part choices you will agree also.

Did they give you the Romulan Legacy pack in place of the Dyson pack on accident or something?

ztempest I apreciate your idea but I'd like to make a counterproposal for a ship I'd rather buy: leave the stats as they are, totally ditch the transformation thing and use a skin that can be customized instead.:)
On the Klingon side the T3 Raptor would be ideal for this, it's not used for anything else anyway.;)
On the Federation side the Freedom or maybe the Springfield would be good for this.

Varied boff layouts like some other ships have had would be great, and by great I mean "would make this pack look less ... grubby".
