So, I'm a fairly casual player, in that I'm not on more than a couple of hours a night, if that, because real life takes precedence. Even so, I've leveled a Tactical Fed and Romulan (Fed-aligned) both to 50, and am working on a Fed (science) and KDF (Tac).
In looking for a fleet, almost all of them say "Real life comes first," but I can't tell you how many MMO guilds have said that, but then given me TRIBBLE.
I'm interested in RP, contributing to fleet resources, and and camaraderie, with occasional STFs and the like, but I'm not sure if joining a fleet is a good idea or not. PvP isn't really my thing (I'm still too underpowered for it, anyway).
Any advice? Should I just keep soloing my way across the galaxy?

Personally, being part of a fleet, even a smaller one has been rewarding. Mine, (and most of my fleetmates), play time fluctuates heavily based on real world events, and we're pretty open to new faces. Most of them are British though so their play times are sometimes radically different than my West Coast USA time zone.
There are casual fleets out there, it does help if you have real world friends to join you.
If you find yourself lacking peeps to play with regularly, feel free to shoot me an in game message/email to @joshglass, even if you don't want to join the fleet, you're welcome to join us in shooting things.
no fleet should give you issues for having a life outside a GAME....
I know some that do and some that give you hassle over the smallest things best thing to do is shop around but dont jump in to anything mate, you have to do whats best for you.
also try to find one based within your own time zone this helps a lot too.

Dear TimeLordDrowan,
I feel that what your wanting to ask about, is that you would like to feel part of a meaningful connection with people you would look forward to sharing your thoughts and your time with, in a fleet. Relationships.. seldom are easy in life. We all give of our heart, to try and enrich the experience with those we have come to care about. Wanting to give more to the connection than taking for ourselves. This is a hallmark, I think, of all good lasting friendships. I would like to provide as best advice that I could, from my own experience. But believe that I may not be the best counsel as there's alot of aspects on relationships that I haven't much experience at. I do know, that you should never feel "pressured". That is certainly not a good thing, I would agree with you there. There are some really nice people who belonged to different fleets that I have met with. In space encounters, they're respectful and would understand that someone else might not be able to contribute to the engagement very much. But are happy to simply share the experience with another and not feel like they're alone in their effort. The fleet that I'm in.. there is naturally members who would wish to be further along in affording our tier projects. This is true of any fleet, but everyone adds to the group in ways that are uniquely their own. Some explore, some mine, some shop, and some battle borg. I enjoy exploring, and coming across mysteries. I love mysteries because I enjoy the effort at trying to understand something, and sharing that with others. The bigger the group, the higher the collective IQ. It might be a good idea, come to think of it, to team up with someone to get a better idea on what they're like. Same with a fleet, to team up with them a time or two to see the "give and take". Umm.. I'm sure that different ones here has already extended an invitation, and you're welcome to join me to poke around different places and talk. It might take a bit of email tag to meet up in person. But it should be nice to meet with you and become friends. Oh, if your character iis s borg, then we probably won't get along because I hear they're trying to take over. :-)
Greetings, we are Liberty Task Force (Fed) and Liberty Honor Guard (KDF) at www.libertytaskforce.com and I'd like to extend an invitation to our fleet. We first began on April 28th, 2013 and we have already reached Tier V Shipyard and Communications Array on our Fed side. Our KDF is Tier III. We boast a very active website and also use TeamSpeak 3. We have members from all over the world and there is always someone on to game with.
We are an 18+ age fleet and registration through our website is required to join, we are very community based. We do ask that are members remain active and log into the game at least once every 60 days (120 days for certain ranks). Access to all fleet stores open at only 100,000 total contributions. We are fun, casual gamers with a set structure in place. We do many in-game activities and also do PvP with allied fleets.
Also we won't berate you if you leave in the middle of a mission to take care of something. We've had members have to leave an STF cause their child fell out of bed hey it happens it's called life we understand.
Feel free to visit our site and look around. If you have any questions e-mail me at Info@LibertyTaskForce.com or friend me in-game at Grayfox@GrayfoxJames take care and see you in space!
Best Regards,
-Grayfox

If you are still looking for a small casual fleet, with no requirements and opportunity to grow, please consider joining our ranks. The 43rd Tactical Wing (Fed) and the House of K'ush (KDF) is a very small but active fleet. Our number one rule is "No Drama". You can be involved in any way you see fit. There is no requirements to join and all stores are open to all ranks. If you are looking for a fleet, but do not want to deal with all the politics and drama of larger fleets, please consider joining us.
Feel free to send a message or PM to @RBatalla. Thanks
