Advice on the Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier

Hello fellow warriors.

After coming into a little bit of EC, I am looking to buy the JHEC, however before I roll out and pay 110 Million, I would like some advice.

Firstly the character who would fly it is a Tactical, I am after a mix of damage and healing and it will be a PvE only build. I am also interested in using the hangar and while I have considered the JHDC, I find the turn rate of the JHEC more appealing even at the cost of hull. However I am not totally opposed to the JHDC I just want to make the right decision. This will also not be the only ship he'll fly probably going to grab him the Hirogen escort as well for his high damage missions like STF's.

So any suggestions on this would be appreciated. I don't have a heart set on anything so I am open to persuasion if there are better alternatives at affordable prices.

Also any suggestions on set-ups would be appreciated. I am normally a Disruptor freak however I am open to a change, something that will be equally effective that won't cost we an arm and a leg. Anti-protons are out for me, they are too rich for my blood at their current rates.

Finally my character doesn't have access to all the shines of the fleet system, I am in a small fleet I co-run the fleet and we are only now hitting Tier 3 (after some upgrades are done) and have very little to no provisioning due to the insane prices being asked by Cryptic.

I am however considering moving this one character to a bigger fleet that is more active, haven't found one yet though, feel free to let me know if there are any around, preferably a T4 or T5 fleet with around 200 or more members that doesn't have strict rules (especially with voice chat as I won't use it due to bandwidth concerns).

Thanks. :D

Here is the build I have on my JHHEC, imo one of the most optimized builds. Basically its a very nimble FAW cruiser with a hangar bay (you get more defense when you fly faster too). The JDNC* and JHHEC are both very good ships either way. I chose the JHHEC because an escort carrier is a niche that the kdf does not have (I have the fleet Kar'Fi as my big carrier).

*PS: You can only get the JHAS frigates as pets for the Dreadnought when you actually have the JHAS ship itself on that character, which is by far the most expensive ship in the game (over 500 million ec now), so if you don't have that you can only run fighters (Elite Swarmers or Scorpions are great fighters though).

    ---

JHHEC build (which I use for both PVE/PVP):

    Tac Rom(Superior Ops): TT, APD, FAW3, APO3

    Nau (Pirate): EptS, A2B, DEM2

    Nau (Pirate): EptW, A2B

    Nau (Pirate): ET, RSP

    Let (Efficient): HE

    ---

Front: 3x Rom Plasma Beam Mk XII, Experimental Rom Plasma Beam

Aft: 2x Rom Plasma Beam Mk XII, Cutting Beam

Assimilated Mk XII Deflector and Engines

    Elite Fleet Warpcore and Shield

Devices: Subspace Field Mod, Nimbus call, Aux batteries

Engi consoles: Assimilated, Zero-Point, Leech, Tachyokinetic

Sci consoles: 2x Embassy +Plasma consoles (-threat)

Tac consoles: 4x Vulnerability Locator Mk XII (+pla)

    Hangar: Elite Obelisk Swarmers

    ---

    Doffs:

    3x Purple Technician

    1x Marion F Dulmur

    1x Warpcore Engineer (clear debuffs)

    1x Flight Deck Officer (-cooldown)

Thank you very much for your response. I still haven't decided if I'll be getting one yet, but some of your suggestions did help. Like the Naucassian BOFF. Once I swapped my old crew out for my pirate team I have noticed the increase in damage.

I noticed the Lethean trait is only ground based, am I missing something? How will that help me in space?

This is a KDF build so unfortunately I can't use Romulan BOFF, only the Lobi store one which isn't worth the lobi for me.

Is there a particular reason you're using beams over cannons?

IMO this is the best set up I've used on this ship,

Only difference is I use the RSP doff.

I run mine like a mobile artillery platform/plasma burner. Here is the link to my current build. All I lack are fleet locator tac consoles and the 6th doff slot (I'm saving up FC's and dil) and two Nausicaan boffs to finish out my build. I use this almost exclusively for PvE. The only time I PvP is to farm dil, but that is a separate rant.

For the player on a budget and/or has no rep or fleet access:
    Weapons:
Fore: Plasma torp x2, Plasma DHC x2 (any mods will do, I like [critH])
Aft: Plasma Turret x3 (add the Kinetic Cutting Beam ASAP)

Gear: Any space set will do. I prefer Aegis for my pre-rep/fleet chars, but Jem'Hadar or the Solanae set from the 4th anniversary will do. Most warp cores will be fine, but I will suggest a +shield or +engine power core. You won't really benefit from more weapon energy with this setup.

    Consoles:
Eng: Nuetroniums plus whatever universals you want to use (leech is always good).
Sci: Field gens, you can't go wrong with them.
    Tac: 2/2 or 3/1, energy/torp.

Hangar: I like the heavy torps from Elite Scorpions but regular (or even advanced if you can't get fleet access) To'duj, Orion Interceptors, Swarmers and Scorpions can hold thier own for their price.

Boffs: See my linked build. Maybe pick up a Torp spread 3 from the Jem'hadar boff or get some AP: Beta 3 if you like.

Doffs: Projectile weapons officers x3, your choice x2 (or x3 if you have the spire unlock). I use conn officers for Tac Team CD reduction and Warp Core Engineers for more power with my EPTS. I will also get the debuff cleanse doff for slot #6.

I know this is far from optimized, but it is really fun for me to play. If you are fighting an enemy that spams AoE attacks, you have to time your torpedoes around their firing cycles. You do need to be willing to put points into torpedoes and maybe even use a plasma torpedo tac console (both heresy, I know). I'm currently testing the tac console ratio of 3/1 or 2/2, energy/torp.
Is there a particular reason you're using beams over cannons?
Beams are very strong now that FAW is fixed. When combined with several stacks of AP:B and the various drain resists, a well built beam boat will out-DPS pretty much everything in the game. That said, I will always take cannons+torps over beams because I find FAW beam boats very boring to fly. They are very effective, I just don't enjoy them.

In the end, play what's fun for you. Don't be afraid to experiment with off the wall builds. I would rather you do 5k DPS and fly something you enjoy than do 30k with a build you only use because people says it's the best.
    Current ship/builds:
    KDF Tac: Bortasqu' Tactical
    Fed Tac: Fleet Gal-X

    Keep those big guns a-thunderin'

Not all Letheans have the Efficient trait. Its a space trait that gives +7.5 Starship warp core efficiency. I wouldn't run more than 2. 1 is enough for me.
This is a KDF build so unfortunately I can't use Romulan BOFF, only the Lobi store one which isn't worth the lobi for me.
You can get rom tactical boffs as a non-rom character if your fleet has a leveled up Embassy. The blue male tactical boff is the only one that has Superior Operative though. It costs 80k fleet credit and 20k dilithium I think. (Its a very nice crit bonus).

Is there a particular reason you're using beams over cannons?
Yes, beams do more dps in PVE than cannons and in PVP its alot easier to not have to outmaneuver super fast escorts (most escorts still turn quicker than you). You can play dual heavy cannons too with the same build, just replace the FAW3 by a cannon skill. But I like beams more, they are very strong now.
