Hey all

Its been some time since I played STO but I wanted to give this game another shot. Since its been quite sometime since I have played I am looking for a little community help to get myself situated again.

Here is my current toon/ship/build and any insight on what I should be running, buying or just making myself better with upgrades would be appreciated

Here is my current toon lvl 50 tact captain.

Thanks

Well, first off, if you're not in a Tier 3 or higher fleet, join one! Especially one that has decent progress with the Embassy and Dilithium mine holdings. Lots of nice consoles and weapons to be had! You'd especially be interested in the Embassy Science consoles, as they mesh well with plasma damage builds.

You'll also want to check out the New Romulus content and reputation system. Lots of Plasma based stuff there, too.

The biggest thing you'll want to invest in is a new Warp Core! There's three types of warp cores. Ones that focus on more engine power, ones that focus on shield power, and ones that focus on Aux power. So no, there's no Warp cores that give you a bonus or click power to your weapons. Devs figured no one would want anything else, so no weapon-power-boosting warp cores.

Warp cores can have other attributes as well, such as granting a percentage of power A towards power B, reducing transwarp or Slipstream cooldown, increasing sector space speed or turning rate while in slipstream mode, boosting a power level when it's set low, and more. Fleets have the best cores available to them, but for general PvE a rare Mk 11 is still fine.

Speaking of Romulans, there's now a playable Romulan faction, both the Starfleet and Klingons have had their level 1-20 experience revamped, there's lots of cool and well-done new stories with voice-acting from Trek Alumni such as Denise Crosby, Micheal Dorn, and Tim Russ (Tasha/Sela, Worf and Tuvok, respectively). The Tholains are messing around with the space time continuum, the Undine are back to their old tricks, the Voth (the Dinosaur dudes from that one episode of Voyager) have decided to kick us puny mammals around, aaannd... I don't wanna spoil any more than that ;-)

    Hope this helps a little!
