WARNING: Changing ships in space will ruin your stations on all your buildouts!!!

porchsongporchsong Member Posts: 262 Arc User
A couple of boff stations are now empty after changing ships while in space. Now I have to reset and resave all boff slots for all my build outs. . . .bummer. BTW this happened to someone else as well.

I'm having a similar (if not the same) problem.

I'm only trying to swap a single bridge officer between my single target and AoE builds, but whichever build I saved previously was missing the abilities for the swapped duty officer in the trays.

To restate, it changed the bridge officer correctly from one build to the other, but only the most recently saved build would have the swapped Bridge Officer's abilities in the tray. Swapping back to the other load-out, the bridge officer abilities were all missing from the tray.

I did this a few times, trying to redo-and resave the loadouts, but every time, the previously saved build was missing abilities in the skill tray. (I use skill trays 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10, if that matters.)

Just noticed something like that myself, when switching from starship to shuttle (in space or shipyard, doesn't matter), my shuttle stations are empty since I use the same officers on both, when I fill out my stations and switch back to starship, the officers from the shuttle aren't on their stations there... I'm pretty new to the game and only recently got a shuttle, but I don't think it was like that before todays loadout option...

I'm not sure if this is related but since as a noob, I can't even create a new thread anyway I'll just post it here.

I have 3 purple DOFF's that are active ground with the 20% chance to beam down additional security escorts. I have used the "security escorts III" buff over 20 times today and have not once had any additional security escorts beam down with me. Just 2 every single time. Since this is over 60 dice rolls with 20% chance of success, I believe this to be statistically impossible.

I have tried this in and out of combat on multiple worlds and in and out of missions and it's the same. No bonus security escorts ever. I unequipped and re-equipped the DOFF's even after going between load screens and still it's not fixed.

I set up my bridge officers and layouts, ship equipment, and duty officers. Then saved loadout.

I switch to another ship, configure its Boffs, equipment, and Doff. Save.

When I switch back to the previous ship, some stations are unmanned and some boff abilities are in the wrong slot. although there may be 1 or 2 boffs that are correct. I click on the loadout I saved earlier... no change. Its like the loadout saved was this wrong one.

I redo everything on ship A. Save again, then switch to ship B. Same thing: boffs are everwhere.

I've experienced the old issues of wrong boffs and I also came to the conclusion that it is due to the ship slot, boff slot being filled up by new boffs/ships when you dismissed the previous entries in that slot, BUT in between the saves and switches I described above, I did no dismissing nor acquiring of new boffs/ships. I didn't even change boff abilities or ship equipment.

Ok after getting to my 20 whateverth attempt I finally got 6 security escorts to beam down. 3 turns later 6 more. I guess that this was just ridiculously unlikely and a statistical anomaly. Albeit an insane statistical anomaly.

Boff/tray loading has always been related to timing somehow (read: lag?). Sometimes the switch goes well, other times it doesn't.

The problem is compounded by Cryptic filling in the blanks for you automagically, so you wind up with random tray buttons/boffs.

All of this has been reported many, many times. But there's no money in fixing bugs.

This is exactly what I was trying to describe. It only does it for me when I swap to a loadout one of my stations swaps a bridge officer. Whichever loadout I saved last always comes up correct, but the previously saved loadouts are always missing the abilities in the tray where the swapped bridge officer's should be (example, if I save my single fire build with two CRF's, they are fine when I load it, but the previously saved loadout with two CSVs now find those abilities missing from the tray, even thought he officer is correctly changed into his station).

Yeah same problems for me. Switching the actual gear on the ship as always been fast and easy for me, but the tray abilities is a pain in the TRIBBLE and the loadouts don't save them for me. I must have tested with 18 ships today multiple times a ship, never saved any of my tray configurations, which for me takes the longest to set up, thus the feature is useless. If they want to sell their overpriced extra loadout slots, they'd have to fix this. Otherwise it's useless since the main issue for me is the tray abilities.

it would be easier if each ship had it's own tray instead of a universal tray that all ships use. Another game with very similar setups and circumstances fixed this bug finally in their game, and they are just an independent studio.

I've not had any issue with this myself having setup two loadouts on my fleet Nova and one on my Dyson ship, I can switch between Nova loadouts with no issues on anything and I can switch to the Dyson ship with no issues, no tray messups, no missing/wrong doffs, etc.

So either you guys are anomalies or I am...

I reassigned them just to test and then saved the loadout, then loaded the second loadout and then loaded the original and it's still not saving the stations or tray icons correctly. Switching ships just messes up everything to do with tray icons.

So much for Tribble testing and ironing out issues before going live.

I haven't logged in since patch, I knew this was going to be broken.

I read the notes and it said something about doffs and things disappearing and I thought "I really can't be bothered"

Playing a different game now, having fun, in a new guild, the game has challenge, I almost forgot what that was. It has teamwork, sensible(ish) class balance and many other things. Think the snails in the garden might be starting to play STO, they can work the space bar right?

I haven't used this feature and not going to because of many problems like this. I'll think I'll go to spacedock. The tradition way of swapping. Thanks but hell to a no thanks, Cryptic!

    Are no devs answering?

    Knock Knock Cryptic!!!

This is a Major Issue! It takes a lot of time and Effort to Configure our Personal Tray and its especially important for those who bone their mouse or other gaming keys that the tray and BOFF config is saved!

Whats the point of switching ships in space if you have to spend several mins reconfiguring your personal tray and selecting your BOFFs??!!

Different Loadouts will definatly need different BOFF.. eg, a Beam Boat does not need a Boff that provide Cannot Rapid Fire or Scatter Volley!!!

    Please FIX this!!!!

Not Everyone has a Computer Brain and is able to remember every BOFF and Personal Tray Config across many ships!

Yeah, that; along with Beam Fail At Will :P

In all seriousness, though, seems whenever you ask the annoying questions, the devs grow silent again. Noticed that first hand in the Official Loadouts feedback thread.

Actually, they don't need to reply per se, as long as they fix the issue.

if i missed the answer given already (or this one not is on topc) sry :D. if not, here it goes:

setting up the whole ship including doffs and so on u need to be in space while u save the layout. works perfectly then ;)...

and if ya not using the space-swap for ships, but the contact ur old setups also should still be there, so: change ship at contact, get ur doffs right, up in space and save loadout --> space-swap ;).

There is also no money when the whales stop playing and paying because of too many bugs..

I know my wallet is very much closed to PWE/STO. One bug too many for me.

My wallet has been closed for years pending the fix to the hot bar issues when swapping ships. I have refused to invest in ships when they only make my game experience worse. I had hoped they would finally give us the feature that CO has had since before STO even launched.

Loadouts also don't restore setups when you dismiss a ship. Everything goes to hell then on every other ship in your dock. Even the fast swap equipment appears to jack up, as I found half the equipment missing on a ship after I swapped to it in space when I realized what caused the problem (again).

I assume the end goal here is to pay $5 to add more ship slots rather than dismiss a ship and spend an hour resetting every ship's tray/doff/equipment layouts.
