You need an ev suit. You can mine it in the vlultga mining station just south west of deep space 9, or if you are in a fleet that has sufficiently built it up, you can go to your fleets dilitium mine just beside the vlultga.

    Both areas are non-combat zones.

    Hope that helps.

There's two areas that you can mine at. They're both at in the Beta Urase Sector Block. The first is the Vlguta Asteroid Field. The second is the Dilithium Mine Fleet Holdings. You don't have to worry about being attacked as they're all Social areas. You can only access the Fleet Holding Mine if you're in a Fleet that has at least a level 1 mine. The only thing you really need is an Environmental Suit (EV for short). You can get one easy by playing the recent Featured Episode.

The Vlguta mines have two types of mining areas, however, the second one, Rich Dilithium Mining Area, can only be accessed with a VIP Pass, which you can get with Lockboxes.

You don't need to actually mine it to earn extra. Anything in the game that rewards dilithium gives extra. Duty officer missions included.

Which mining mission are you trying to do? Cause one of them need a mining claim to do the other doesn't. If the mark on your map is yellow, then I think you are trying to do the wrong one. Their should be 5 white circles on your map if you are doing the right one.

    :(

    Nope,

I did not mine any at all as I said even this mining laser I meant to have never comes up in a menu when I went to the dilithium so I did not even get to start mining?

So can I drop the mission and then restart it a new?

    Or what?

    Thanks. :)

There is no actually drilling laser equipment. It's just costume dressing that's part of the the mining emote you will do during the mining mini-game. You can trying it out inside of the Ferengi ship's hold. There is a dilithium Crystal off to the side where you can practice the mini-game before doing the real thing.

You need the regular mining mission not the Mining Claim mission. Onc you have the right mission. Equip an EV suit in your character's armor slot. That will add two power slots on top of your power tray. The first of the two new slots turns on your EV suit. Do so. Onec you do that, select Exit Airlock button from the lower right of your screen.

You will be send to the surface of the asteroid. Proceed to one of the mission circle areas. You see lots of dark dilithium crystals sticking out of the ground. Walk up to one of them (doesn't matter which one). You will get an interaction button to mine the crystal. Hit the button.

You character will try to move to a specific spot and start mining. If you character is blocked by something the mini-game might not start. Reposition yourself next to where your character trying to move to. Start mining again.

One you start mining, you will whip out a drilling laser and star to mine. You will also get the mining mini game. Match up the indicators to the triangle using your keyboard arrow keys. Don't use your mouse cursor and the buttons on the screen. When the triangle moves, match up the indicators again. You do that for 1 minutes.

Go to another mission circle and mine again. Once your have done all 5 mission circles, return to Issi on the ship to turn in the mission. You will receive dilithium after every mini-game depending on how well you did. If you score high enough you'll score crafting materials and maybe even a rare particle.

Note: If you are trying to mine the big white Dilithium, you are in the wrong area. That the other mission and you need a Mining Claim to be able to mine there. (You get 'em from Lockboxes)

Many great greetings to you all,

Thanks to allot of you answering my questions about the mining of dilithium om the asteroids
I now at last done so?

That special mining laser that would not come up when I was in the EV suit near one of the dilithium crystals, It at last come up and I was minig like you all said by that mini game
control were you line up the triangle with the one that changes on the screen?

    Brill.

    I did it.

The only problem I found was that when you done one of thse you ( 5 circles sites ) and return to the ferengi station to get your ore rewards, You find even with the double weekend special that's on now!

You don't make much out of it? :(

Plus once you done it once, you find that the owner ferengi ishi will not let you redo it for 18 hours after the one you just done?

The choice grays out and a count down clock starts to tick down from 18 hours before you can do it again so I only got one mining done by now after all the trouble of learning to do it right? :(

Both versions of it have the same time clock after the mining being done?
    Big shame that!

Anyway thank you all who told me how to get it done in the first place?
    you are the best. :D

the cool down on the mission is not a "shame", but a necessity. same as the 8,000 per day refinement cap.

"D" is central to the game's economy. If everyone could have as much as they wanted, whenever they wanted, it would reek havoc with the D to Zen exchange.

This couldn't be more false. Nothing in the main game rewards dilithium.

    Leveling characters? No DL.
    Running FE's? No DL.
Running STFs that aren't Omega? No DL.

The things that get you more Dilithium are things that don't involve leveling/playing the game *(unless you're Klingon and like blowing things up)

Doff missions (check, not all green ones give DL rewards beyond the usual token amount), the Academy mid-term mission, Mining (as discussed above), 48-hour cooldown "Explore Strange New Worlds" nebula companion mission. That's it as far as I know.

    He said

" Anything in the game that rewards dilithium gives extra"

    which was correct.

You listed things that have never given dilithium, thing is that anything you do while logged into STO is "Playing the game." the game is the entire program, not just the story line.

Also, there are no non Task Force Omega STFs at the moment (you can argue about Terradome, but that's been removed from the game pending a remastering)
