... I apologize that I couldn't find any concrete way forward from the end of Chapter 4. For the time being, I'm dumping what I'd already posted and currently attempting a complete rewrite (with a different plot), but keeping the overall story title. One chapter (10 pages) written so far. It tentatively looks promising. If I can manage to get it through at least another six or seven chapters without it falling apart on me, that will be all the proof I need that it's worth posting here. If I can't, then no harm done. It'll just stay on my computer here at home. Just more practice in learning what works vs. what doesn't work. Wish me luck and thank you for being patient with me.
