I recently got the science destroyer for my main romulan fed toon,and wow what a good looking ship. Nice to fly too.
So whats the problem i hear you ask?????
Simple its the time limit when using tactical mode which is 60 secs,before you have to press it again.
Considering the grind involved in getting this ship,and optionally buying the lobi to get it,
the tactical mode at 60 secs each time is totally unfair and unjust.
I would like to see cryptic scrap that 60 secs rule,and make tactical mode permanent.
Not many here will agree with me,but i am sure theres some who do.
Start in tactical mode, pop attack pattern alpha and all tactical buffs, unload a massive damage spike with CSV3
Switch to science mode, pop an aux battery, unload a ton of science spam boosted by those tactical abilities, including perhaps a gravity well three.
At this point, does it seem at all fair to be able to jump right back to full tactical mode? Would seem to me as a built in counter to chaining commander abilities

Indeed. Even I see the logic in the timer. As it was just said, they don't want people using Commander Tactical and immediately switching to Commander Sci (or vice versa).
Like using Gravity Well 3 on a Target and finishing it off with Rapid / Scatter Fire 3.
In fact, in some respects this is still somewhat plausible since Gravity Well takes a while to go away, so I wouldn't be surprised if they actually increased the timer.
Unless it is some kind of glitch you should be able to stay in tactical mode for as long as you want. There is only a 60 second cool down when you switch from tactical to science mode.

Picture this, not everyone in this game has $1000s of dollars to P2W their way in this game, like you do. I am with you OP that 60 sec duration is garbage, it needs to be removed and made permanent.

To think that the cd needs to be reduced shows much misunderstanding of balance, to snap at Rylan shows much immaturity(directed at kantazso).
@OP, it's just part of the balance of the game (doesn't happen enough, but it does) you'll eventually learn things have their reasons for being the way they are

anyways, a more on-topic response: one does not need amazing gear to survive a 60 sec cooldown, i can make due with exchange gear no problem at all, most of my weapons are from the exchange since i tend to change load-out often

As for the cool down, don't really see a huge problem with it. Only thing would be is the cool down didn't reset when you died. Thay should probably happen. Otherwise its a mechanism to prevent you from doing something thay would likely be overpowered. Though that might at least justify the grind for the ship. At least until they nerfed it later.
He instead to suggest to the OP ways to improve came and bashed the OP, if you dont know how to read between the lines, I cant help you there. i completely agree that the cd-reset on death is annoying, when i respawn i'd like to go into attack mode right away.
the grind i don't feel is too bad really, the other ships were given away right away but those were only ships, nothing really special, but THIS, this ship comes with two uniqe functions, commander swithcing, and secondary deflector(to be added to all science vessels in the future) and three pieces of uniqe equipment, proton dual heavy cannon(pretty powerfull too) solanea warp(sing)core and solanea secondary deflector(cannot be aquired once the ani is gone) and for all that, 15 days of doing a 5-10 minute mission is really not so bad

Because when you activate tactical mode there is no timer. You can stay in tactical mode for as long as you like.
The cooldown on the mode switch only starts when you end tactical mode.
And it's not as if staying in science mode for a few minutes is going to get you killed - there are precisely ZERO defensive options for a commander tactical slot you would loose.
So either the OP is suffering from some sort of bug, or he is hitting some other ability that has a 60 second CD, or he is doubleclicking the button and is only getting a few seconds in tactical mode before dropping out.
If it is indeed a bug then only cryptic can help him (though I would start by switching to another ship and back to the dyson ship to see if the problem persists). Cryptic is only going to help if the OP files a bug report and if this bug can be confirmed/replicated/proven.
If it is any of the other options -> HUGE facepalm.

I understand, and respectfully disagree as it would basically allow one ship to have two commander level abilities at will.

Allowing that kind of switch on a single vessel without a cooldown would pretty much render every other ship in the game obsolete.
The only gripe I have with it is the dying in tac respwn as Sci with the cool down active but hey guess it is build play about time to find use

I did notice switching from tac to science frequently. I thought I had hit the button by mistake while spamming powers.
