If you really want a lockbox ship, don't open a lockbox.;)
Sell the keys on the exchange, those 50 keys could have made you ~90 million ec if keys are still ~1.8m, been a few days since I was on so maybe higher or lower but still, sell the keys to get the ship you want unless you really need the lobi then open boxes but only for lobi.:)
No ships from the boxes and during the night play time I have seen only like 3-4 reports of someone getting a ship in comparison with 25-40 per hour of the Voth.
opend about 850 lockboxes since the lockbox system was implemented... still waiting for my first ship... if i wouldnt need lobis, i wouldnt open any box...

Well I have this problem with the exchange you see. A couple of items that didn't sell I couldn't redeem when I received the messages to do so, so I am afraid that that would happen to those keys.
Last week I got a Wells science ship for my science toon with two keys. So yeah, it can pay off. I did drop 20 keys on Dominion boxes a couple of weeks before, but I'll need all that lobi for temporal gear anyway. So it all works out, depending on what you need.

If you truly want the ship, have someone else spend untolds amount of keys opening it, and you just sell keys on the exchange for EC. Much cheaper and much more reliable way of getting the ship.
Unless, of course.. the ship is just one key away...

I hear all of the arguments about selling keys but I am simply to afraid because if and when the item on the exchange doesn't sell and "expires" I can't redeem it...

Whoa, yes you can.
It gets returned to you via ingame mail, pick it up at a terminal.
Want to hear something silly. I spent some money on Zen over the weekend to open some lockboxes. Got a mirror NeghVar but no Hirogen ship. I had a couple boxes left over, and because I have no willpower I took some EC out of my bank, bought a couple keys and opened the rest, not expecting anything and low and behold, I got the Hirogen Hunter.
So, lockbox keys I paid real money for = nothing. Lockbox keys I paid EC for = Hirogen ship.
I've probably opened about 400 boxes since they started, and I've gotten a Tufli, 2 Wells, and a S'golth, and enough mirror ships to start my own navy. It's really random and you have to be really lucky to get anything good.
I also won a JHAS on like the 3rd winter box (or whatever it was before lock boxes) I opened, and I sold it for around 120 mil EC. At the time, I wanted the EC more than the ship. I really regret that, since they cost so much more now and you can get EC for selling keys.

I know but when I click to "redeem" it, nothing, it doesn't respond... Hapend only 2 times when I failed to sell a tal shiar lock box laser and a rommy boff..

Were you actually at a mail terminal?
Because, if not, you can't get the item.
You have to actually be physically at the terminal.

Its always FAR more efficient to straight up buy the lockbox ship you want, instead of paying EC for the keys ( if zen>keys route then sell the keys instead of using them ) you will end up with way more EC/spend less getting what you want this way!
Keys to me are just for getting lobi ( of which to only spend on BOP lobi store items, the rule of ' just buy the item you want with EC instead' applys to the lobi store even more than it does to boxes )
Seriously I opened over 50 of them, got a metric f**k ton of Doffs but no Ships!
What should I do? Open 50 more and than have enough lobi crystals to finaly buy that Tal Shiar ship?
Ok, sorry everyone just needed ti get that out of my system. :P
I've gotten three.... nothing spectacular. A Mirror Haakona, which I dumped my old Haakona for, since I didn't need two.... and then two more Mirror Haakonas which I just immedialte put up on the exchange for the cheap.
I wasn't opening lock boxes for ships though, sometimes I may buy a pack of keys when they are on sale and see what I can get out of it. But I don't go on these hundreds of dollar lockbox opening sprees that I know some do.
Don't feel too bad. I have been trying for a Wells and have opened over a hundred of the appropriate lock box and nada.
Open many others and I get a few mirror ships.
And I have gotten one each Orb Weaver and an Adapted Destroyer. Both good ships. But gotten from dabbling for lobi not looking for that ship. . . go figure.

Got the mirror heavy cruiser just today. Didn't like the way it looked so put it on the exchange right away.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I'm not one for superstition, but every time I have opened a ship containing box, it was a "meh" box, as in I was not searching for the ship.
I think there are some big brother shenanigans that occur to read your mind and award you the ship when you don't necessarily want it, so it's the people that want it that have to buy more boxes.
Of course, Cryptic will never tell you about the quantum computer that controls their brains and reads our minds.
OK, don't hate me but I got a Wells on the seventh box I ever opened.
Since then I've opened a fair few boxes and gotten three other lock box ships.
A D'Kora, a tal shiar destroyer and a Tholian science ship.
It really is the luck of the draw.
Yeah, thanks for the offer but I'll hate you anyway.
I open 10-20 each time a new box comes out, and have not even gotten a single MU ship, let alone a lockbox* ship.
*On the Winter Boxes, I did get 2 JHASs and foolishly opened both. I guess I used up all my luck before I knew I needed it.
I've gotten enough Lobi to buy/sell some Lobi ships, and a nice amount of the Dilithium Mining Claims. Dropped some cash on Zen when I had extra and the keys were on sale. Still have almost 100 claims I just don't have time to use, so saving them for the "weekend" events I guess.
Didn't get anything else out of it other than a pile of TRIBBLE ground weapons and TRIBBLE mirror ships.
You have about 0.5% to have the "big" loot when you open a box. 50 is nothing. Try 200 next time.
I've open about 200 of them, and not a single box ship. Now, I don't bother anymore, I bought the tachiokinetic console for all my characters, and have an extra 800lobis (from the last FE rerun mostly), in case they release something I want in the store.
Otherwise, I keep my stipend, my dil and my money. Better things to buy with them, and I can always buy one of those ship for a much cheaper price on the exchange.
BTW, PWE thank you for your money. Well, they don't really thank you, I mean about as much as EA thank his players, or a shepherd thanks his animals for the milk/wool/meat they give him.

I have obtained the Tal Shiar Adapted Destroyer, Tholian Orb Weaver, Elachi Escort, and most recently the Voth Bastion (still unopened) and tons of the three older Mirror Romulan ships (all unopened). I have never sold keys but during the recent Romulan Survivor Duty Officer Extravaganza did sell dozens and dozens of those and picked up a Wells, Mobius, two Aeon, two N'Far, and Widow. Buying those in the Lobi Store (except the Wells which is a Lockbox) ship would have required opening 230 of those Romulan Packs during that promotion for the Lobi or maybe 460 lockboxes otherwise. Selling about 65 of those Romulan Packs netted all those ships instead.
I am going to save the Lobi I have for Consoles and Jem'Hadar Space and Ground Set upgrades. I will exercise some self-control and wait for a Lobi Store sale, however.
During the second to last Romulan Survivor Pack promotion, I did open a bunch of those directly as I did need the Doffs and Lobi. When I was down to my last pack, I said to myself "Self, last chance for the JHAS'. It was there and I opened it for both the ship and ability to get the pets for my JHDC.
Hey, I thought Cryptic was not going to the Gamma Quadrant, but the Delta instead. Well for the life of me these 'Delta Quadrant' Hirogen Lockboxes didn't get the word as they are spewing out Gamma Quadrant Duty Officer Packs like crazy.

I sold the Jem HECs to buy more keys, and will likely sell the Voth ship as well. I have Screen caps from some of these if needed.
