DHC JHAS Versus Sci Drain/Disable Build

edited February 2014 in PvP Gameplay
Hello All,

I fly a JHAS with Multiple weapon types and BOFFS (For Various Situations and Opponents) I do quite well at adapting and overcoming most Builds (1vs1 environment), But there is one build in which i have no idea how to defend or defeat ...The dreaded Sci Drain/Disable Build, I am aware that Re-Specing into Power Insulators and having the Associated console will reduce the threat, but is this the only alternative I have as i don't want to re-spec just for dealing with one type of ship any help would be appreciated.

Thank you all in advance

I am a super noob to pvp, so these may be incorrect, but...

Warp core cleanser doff to shake unhappy debuff on you
Sci team(might be hazard emitters) to also aid in the cleansing.
Power insulators to help counter the drain
Speed device (impulse capacitance/deutronoum consumable ) consoles to get away from TR
Power insulators is a pretty big thing in pvp, shame you passed it up...

Tbr? Without auxillary it will hit like a truck

Can't really think of others...plasmonic leech? help counter the drain a bit

Hopefully some vets will step in.

Sorry I couldn't be more help
    Chive on and prosper, eh?

    Greetings,
I run a drain build sometimes and I can help answer a few Questions.
Hazard Emitters will cleanse the Drain Debuff off you, batteries are your friend lol
If you have less than 6 points on Power Insulators shame on you get some points in there ASAP.
Plasmonic Leech will help negate some drain but if you dont have alot of Flow cap it will be minimal.
WCE Cleansing Doff will help as well.
But even with points in Power Insulators, against someone who has 200+ Flowcap you'll still get drained so your better off cleansing the drain away.
Word of Note Hazard Emitters will not Cleanse any drain from the Aceton Mode from the Voth Pallaside Vessel

there is no way u can win vs a good sci player in 1vs1 using an escort, simple as that. He can drain/disable you, and subnuke when u load your alpha and negate all your damage. The things are very diferent if u have a battle-cloak capable ship

    This isn't a 1vs1 game.

As an expert bug killer in 1vs1. There is no way to defend against an extreme drain build with a 1 sci console ship. Versus me-- the bug pilot with be up against a combined drain of negative 280 power in all systems. (My max is 425 flow cap skill. Not telling how)

It's so powerful-- emergency powers don't even work. So yeah bug pilots run from me :D
Just don't fight drain builds with Jem bugs in 1vs1, and never fight me... Seriously.
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.

Yep this game isn't designed around 1v1.

Science ships are the natural foil for escorts... so if the piloting is equal I would expect the science ship to win almost every time.

Yes you can counter some of what they do some of the time. Hazards does 100% counter drain... if the sci guy times your hazards though. (just like you are timing his tac teams) well your going to loose pretty much.

It can be fun fighting a half decent sci guy in an escort... you can carry most of but not all the counters. (your not going to have a sci team engi team hazards and tractor breaks around all the time) However I would say that vs a really good sci pilot an escort is mostly going to loose in frustration most of the time.

Only real sure way to beat sci ships 100% of the time is to kill them extremely fast which as a non cloaking escort is going to be a hard thing to do.

I did countless 1v1's against all imaginable builds.

I have stopped playing really when season 7 ended, so there is the possibility that my advise is not 100% valid anymore. I am not too familiar with the newest toys and other atrocities, I assume that drain got stronger but so did escorts, so my gut feeling is that pwning drainers should still be possible.

Won't lie to you, drainers are tough cookies, however it is most definitly possible to prevail in such match-ups flying an escort. Been there done that.

The key to survive the drain are batteries. Dual batteries can be quite usefull, but depending on the opponents skill not always necesarry. Carry at least 1 hazard, maybe even 2. You have to watch the opponents cycle carefully and time your batteries. If he nukes you alphas, use that to your advantage, be patient, windows of opportunity will open eventually.

Dedicated drainers usually lack resists and hitpoints. You need to spike them hard enough and quick enough, if done right they don't have any time to react at all. Use a weapon battery to get back your offensive power and be quick, do not telegraph your punches.

Beating drainers is difficult, reserve some time to optimize your binds and timings first, and you'll probably need several attemps to get everything right. There more often you 1v1 them, the better you'll get eventually.

Against a proper pvp sci you won't be able to kill them on your own anyway. If they are fitted for support then they won't have much drain/dps so they won't be able to kill you either, so 1v1s are just very boring.

Also be careful when trying to spike damage a drainer. Most likely they'll expect that from a bug, and use Feed back pulse I or II + Reverse shield polarity-- or in my case 'immunity matrix'. It is very possible to run 2x FBP, and 2x drain. The Jem bug is in every case is a no no versus science.

Smart to try to spike science player while drains are on cool down, but Good players (like me) expect it. I just wait for the 'Go down fighting'-- Then the surprise *pop* happens to them. Very predictable. This is why most bug players just make up lame excuses instead of fighting me... LOL.

    lmao

    Paging RCK...

Scora is among the easiest Klink to deal with in Kerrat because she is a one trick pony when her opponent also happens to be Sci. ;) One Word : Subnuke = No Drain and no FBP

425 is too low, Ms. Scora. ;)

This was an old screenshot from Federation Shipyards prior to Voth Lock box :

With Voth Palisade, which has 5 Sci Consoles, the maximum FC skill I can think of is as follows :

    396 + 31.9 + 7.6 (Hirogen 2 piece bonus) = 436, beating your 425 comfortably :P

Actually, it could be higher still if Inspirtational Leader proc up to 3 times.

I'm built for killing people in $450 ships (aka Jem bugs), and cloaked one trick alpha ponies. Yeah I lose to science some times...

I have 3 tricks mind you.. FBP, Drain, and Immunity matrix. :)

Not really all that drone does is move the Respawn point for them. lol Just lets you kill them a second time with out having to chase them down.

Its the "Yes Sir, May I have another" console.

98% of the time the player dies versus me after I revive. To be real honest. :D.

For me it's the 'comeback and win super fast console.'

I admit, not telegraphing your punches is really hard to learn. Especially in 1v1s where the opponent is closely watching your buffs without having to deal with distractions.

A JHAS is a powerful ship, properly spec'd and geared, it can kill targets within one weapon cycle. A single DHC shot can hit in the 5-digit range, a beam overload can spike for >150k. Add in some doffs or whatever for more bleed. If one is quick enough, one can sneak in a full volley before the opponent can react.

Granted though, not easy to pull off.

well thank you all Very interesting, and indeed it will prove very difficult to beat a sci drainer .. So the Smart thing to do, which i will is to build a anti sci ship :)

Thank you all for your input its much appreciated
