Crafting Revamp - What about deconstructing or improving items?

In the Priority One episode, Captain Geko said that they were on their way to reworking crafting and it was going to be a reality. I can't remember if he solicited ideas for crafting, but I'd like to share my one main desire.

I've been a long time player. I have items originally bought for dilithium and crafted that I haven't gotten rid of. I don't like the idea of just selling them to a vendor for EC, not even that much EC to boot.

With the new fleet consoles coming up, I think I might be getting rid of a lot of tactical consoles that I have crafted and paid dearly for. Luckily I didn't blow a bunch of EC on mark XII purps, but still high end gear doesn't come cheap. I would really like to see something useful come of this stuff without throwing things out of whack.

I think crafting could really help in this area.

How about one or more of the following?
  1. Deconstruct bound items and receive a small amount of crafting XP or some how contributes a little bit to your crafting progress however it may be engineered.
  2. Deconstruct a bound item and you get a small amount of materials or dilithium to apply to another item.
  3. Accept bound like items as base items to a crafting recipe or something similar.

I guess option one will probably be open to abuse as you could just buy Dilithium with cash, then buy dilithium items and pump them into the crafting system for xp. So obviously not all ideas would be ideal or would need some sort of better arrangement.

Does anyone feel the same way or have more ideas on what could be done with old hard earned gear?
