why not.... i think we are at about 80% of the population doing it now.

consider it a built in necessary boff power.

bye bye sci doods and escorts.

but hell, f em.... its faw!

and dont forget your new haxy console!

    New Haxy console? I'm afraid to ask, but I must! For science! What is this new haxy console you speak of?

    Also, I would not call anything Cryptic puts out as "haxy"; are you sir, besmirching the level of their QA thoroughness and imply they are somehow putting out an untested and poorly coded product? For shame sir, FOR SHAME! Whatever this console is doing, I'm certain its working exactly as intended!

    I would suggest making it suck up a huge amount of energy. If you're firing 8 beams rapidly, with each doing about the same damage they'd do on regular fire, and hitting 8 targets at once, then each volley should use more energy than beam overload does. Either that, or reduce the amount of damage each beam does by a minimum of 20 percent. Also, regardless of what is done, leave the crit chance at 0, and no weapon proc chance. Personally, I think that all abilities that enhance weapons should also reduce their crit and proc chances to 0.

    cryptic finally balanced pvp .They made everyone use the same ships and same builds.Its only a matter of who taps first his spacebar and what is the ping .Not even pong is that balanced :D

    With the new Comm Array Slots and Cruiser Commands, there will probably be 10-15 things you can buy that will improve your FAW...if you don't find your FAW to be up to par.

    Speaking for my Engineer who flies a beam boat, I have to say that your idea is the worst possible idea posted in my opinion. Using an Aux2Batt FAW DEM build, I can get my cruiser to 10.4k dps in ISE. And without FAW I can do about 9k. It took me a lot of time and work to get it that high. I will never see the 20k-40k range of dps because I am not a Tac Captain and I am not a Romulan flying a Scimitar; nor do I want to be. Beams already have the worst power efficiency of all the weapons. We got some tricks to alleviate that, but they went overboard with those tricks. Your idea would basically cripple any beam user that is not a Tac Captain. A Tac Captain's buffs are doubling the damage/dps of FAW. When it was discovered that Tac Captain's could do some really sick damage with FAW and started using it; then the calls for the nerfs came.

    I do not expect, or ask for, Tac Captains to be nerfed. I do not expect to do the same damage as an Engineer. I do sustained damage, not burst; and that matters a bit more. I have seen some good ideas to fix FAW, but your is not one of them.

    Ugh, without the Mirror Event - the last four guys I'm trying to level - meh, it's so freaking tedious. Admittedly though, I started posting over in General Discussion before I posted here.     Heck, I even mentioned the MajorStall and CaptainWreko thing in the skill thread over in Builds after listening to that podcast.

    Honestly, I think Geko wants to turn this game into some mindless action RPG somebody's puppy could play on an iPhone...I can't think of anything they've done that has left me feeling so much like walking away from STO. Hell, the closest I can come to how I'm feeling is with what happened in WoW with Cataclysm. I had played WoW since beta...I ranted and raved that Cata was going to be garbage. Folks said nah, that I needed to play it. So I bought it when it came out...and barely a week later, I uninstalled and never looked back.

    With what he's talking about with all the changes for S9, for Expansion 2, and the rest...I think most of our complaints at this point are pretty moot - we're going to have all sorts of new and interesting things to complain about when STO moves from being in its NGE (New Grinding Experience) phase to its NSE (New Spending Experience) phase...

    ...and man oh man, is it me - or have I just been rambling and ranting and raving all over the place in the past day or so?

    That podcast so freaking ticked me off...

    I admit, I made that thread because I saw the power that Hirogen armor brought, and how it essentially makes cloaking on the ground a joke, damn nearly eliminating any decent usage of that particular strategy against anyone wearing the armor.     They did push us over to the edge. It took me 2 years to get here. I don't know how 4 years veterans survived this for so long. Tough skins.

    We take breaks, sometimes lengthy. I'd say I've spent about 18 of those 48 months doing other things. It's best to do it before you get to the point where your mouse cursor is hovering over the uninstall button.

    When horizon forgot to say "have fun kill bad guys", you know things aren't good.

    Oh well....I'll muck around the same way I always have, I suppose. There are bits of STO I can't get anywhere else. After all, it's simply a game. Sure, changes for the worse are going to be depressing, but there's always other stuff to do. I'll just let the laws of business take their course.

    If I like it, I'll stay and I'll spend. If things look grim, I'll stay, but I won't spend. And when things are bad....

    What is it about FAW that no matter how many times they attempt to fix it they continually break it. TO fix it for AOE skill make it 65%/75%/85% damage of regular beams based on the level of the skill respectively and based on 125 power MAX. There is no reason an AOE should do more damage than a focused attack. Really this what like the 10th time cryptic has tried to fix or make a relevant a power that should not be that hard to scale. Since its not X-mas I will say Happy FAW-lentines Day.

    Also Mimey, I've noticed you not logging in every five minutes, certainly a feeling of doom seems to have come with this 8.5 for some reason. Maybe it's time for STO Exp 2: A New Hope?

    I wasn't really around for the weekend.

    Though honestly, yes, my limits are starting to get reached on STO I admit.
