Well, I've been at it since October of last year now, yet I still run into things I need to ask potentially silly questions about, soooo....

Despite the timing of this question, I've no interest in the 'buyable' version of the Dyson ship(I'm going to be quite pleased with the anniversary version, thanks), so please dis-regard that factor...; I've noticed quite a few new items I'd like in the Lobi store as of late, yet, aside from Lockboxes, which I can only get once in a blue moon, I see no other viable way to get those elusive little crystals, for a casual/Free player like myself, at least.

Am I just missing something, or is there another way to get these things?

The only way to get Lobi Crystals is from Lockboxes or the occasional Event.

The only way to open Lockboxes is with Master Keys. You can buy Master Keys on the Exchange for 1.7 million EC each, or you can buy them for real money from the C-Store. You can also earn Dilithium from playing and trade that to other players via the Dilithium Exchange to get Zen. You can then use that Zen to buy Master Keys from the C-Store.

There is another way to gain Lobi. Periodically, STO runs feature episode reruns, and hidden in feature episodes are Lobi. Also for completing certain feature episode reruns you can be rewarded with other items too.

I've included the last Dev Blog relating to the ending of the last feature episode rerun just to give you some indication of what they are about.

as above now more on the lobi special events.
so far I have seen 2 types of lobi event the first was Hidden Lobi Locations and you had to replay certain feature episodes and on each episode you would find a lobi crystal hidden, by finding the location you was able to collect the crystal plus an accolade for finding it.
the only draw back is you can only do this once per character for each of the missions, this ended up netting about 20 crystals per character.
the second event resolved around the same feature episodes but you had to play and complete 1 mission per day per account after the mission was complete you were given the normal mission rewards plus 15 lobi crystals, you could use any character you chose and as lobi crystals are now account bound you could transfer all crystals to any one character if you wanted via the account bank if you have one this netted over 500 lobi over the cause of the event per account.
I am sure both of the above events will be repeated from time to time but I will remind you that once you have completed the first event you cannot repeat it.

Well, I'm quite familiar with the Master Keys..., but the only boxes I've used them on -and- had any luck with were the Voth ones, heh! >_>;

Guess I'll have to wait for the next event, then...I rarely have enough EC for a Key, unless I happen to get a lucky purple drop!
