Dacoit Flight-Deck Cruiser

Seriously, what the hell was Cryptic thinking in giving KDF a ship like this in lower levels (20-29)? I suspect it's absolutely impossible, no matter what build you have, no matter what ship you have, to win a fight against Dacoit 1 on 1.

The Dacoit costs money so it is obviously better than whatever free ship you have at the same level. Instead of being angry, laugh at the fact that he spent money on that ship, when he can't use anything from it at end-game.

It's required for Orion Interceptors, which are even better than Runabouts in most cases.

That would be true, but take the Advanced Heavy Cruiser for example, it's also a "money ship", and it loses badly to Dacoit, plus, Dacoit has pets, as if being already better wasn't enough. I'm just complaining about the lack of balance.

Indeed. You're paying 1000 zen for a ship that's basically obsolete by the time you reach level 30 (Federation Exploration Cruiser is better while only requiring straight-up dilithium, and there's a Tier 4 Flight-Deck Cruiser that also costs zen). Given the speed at which you can level in this game, it's really a waste of money. It was a more worthy purchase back when leveling (especially leveling a KDF character) was considerably slower. Now it's pretty much ignored unless you literally have nothing else to buy in the C-Store and have zen to throw around.

Yeah, there's a definite discrepancy there, and it would be nice if Cryptic adjusted the stats to bring the C-Store Fed cruiser up to par with the Dacoit. The thing is. . .both ships are obsolete within 10 levels of having obtained them. Anyone bothering to focus on leveling can probably fill that out in 1-2 weeks at most. Why pay the equivalent of 10 dollars for a ship that's only useful for that short of a period? The only way you'd really want the ship is if you liked to PvP in that specific level range, and kept creating new characters in order to 'stay' in that range. Then you'd have access to the ship on each new character. That's an extremely small part of the playerbase, quite honestly.

I don't think Cryptic will bother with fixing this issue, is what I'm saying. Not many really care about either the Dacoit or the Advanced Heavy Cruiser.

T3 ships have nice add-on gear so that people buy them (for the gear, not the ship). In the case of Dacoit, its the only way to get the Interceptor pets.

1000 zen isnt a lot of Dil. Four toons grinding 8000 dil per day will have enough dil for the zen in four days.

You pay for the Interceptors, which are one of the best fighters in the game, and the Dacoit is a nice bonus when leveling your character. Actually I have taken out the Dacoit once or twice since hitting max level, not for group content like Spire Elite, that wouldn't be far to other players, but its fine for fighting the feds in the Kathless expanse, or in K'tanis fighting borg. Heck I might do that again. Its only useless if you chose not to use it at all.

I also bought the Corsair one level later, for the Taychon Drone, which got nerfed to death, so now I feel ripped off over that one and honestly feel like I should be compensated and/or the drones fixed or restored to usefulness.

Well, considering that the guy beating you in one is flying a character on the most neglected and mistreated faction in game, had to pay 10 dollars for his copy of uber carrier pets while you only need some fleet credits and dilithium for yours, and that it's one of the best looking ships in the game but comes with no console and has no fleet version for endgame play, I'd say you get the last laugh.
