Fleet Kar'Fi and Fer'Jai/S'kul pets - aka I should have known better

Can't purchase the pets without owning the C-store version it seems.

I should have assumed this, but now I can confirm it. I only have one KDF character, so I thought I'd save the dilithium and buy it with 4 modules. a bit of a bummer, but still a great ship!

Funny thing is, fed carriers don't seem to have this issue.

My bug report thread on this is gathering dust. Nobody seems to care when klinks get the business end of the plunger.;)

I'm not so sure it's a bug. I think it's more likely to be working as intended.

can anyone confirm the fleet Atrox does not suffer from this problem?

Ouch. But yeah I guess that would be logical, as when you get a fleet version of something without the c-store counterpart, you don't get the special console, so I guess not getting special pets would be also make sense. Wouldn't affect a Federation character as much though, since the only ship-specific pet Fed-side are the Atrox' Stalker fighters, and I'd be quite surprised to hear of someone buying a Fleet Atrox that wasn't already a fan of the standard version.

    lolwut???

Working as intended or not, this is insane. I have not much to add except - epic fail!
Plus, I'm pretty sure that the Phase Shift Generator is the special console of the C-Store Kar'fi, so that's the one the Fleet Kar'fi wouldn't have if you don't own the C-Store version.

But having the frigates restricted is just ludicrous. My bet is that this is just one of those bugs they want to pretend never happened. Fail Cryptic, fail. :(

It's not about c-store. Fleet Vo'quv also don't allow you to buy bops, but mirror Vo'quv does. Not to mention it's only klink. This is just an oversight.

Why would you skip the regular version and go straight to the fleet one ? You miss out on the fleet module discount when doing that

    For the Kar'Fi yes.

But most KDF ships don't provide a discount:

    Fleet Corsair
    Scourge Destroyer Retrofit
    Fleet Kamarag Battlecruiser Retrofit

Unless you plan to buy multiple copies of the same fleet ship, you end up spending more for the same end result.

I only have one kdf character (I plan to make a second KDF character, but it will be Romulan and thus unable to fly the Kar'fi), I have piles of energy credits with which to buy fleet ship modules, and not so much Dilithium. If I had thought the included console was worthwhile or that I would be flying it with more than one character, I'd surely have gone for the C-Store version first.

Is anyone else noticing that the Jer'hai frigates or whatever their name is have a longer cooldown to launch than all the other pets. It's 45 seconds, all other frigates I use on other ships have half that cooldown.....

Yep, KDF frigates have twice the cd of p2w ones. Plus fer'jais have lower hp, between runabouts and other frigates.

That's how they balance KDF stuff and why i changed my mind about buying a kar'fi.

OP, for what is worth file a bug report in game. At least you can be on the clear that you reported your issue to them. How long will it take them to fix it is ofcourse unknown with bugs in STO, especially Klingon ones.

I also recommend starting a thread about this in the 'Gameplay bug report' section of the forum and keep it allive, it gives you and your issue a better chance of being noticed.
Believe me, it's a bug or a silly oversight on their side, there's no way in hell this is working as intended.

    Good luck.

Question: I picked up a Kar'Fi with my Vice Admiral ship token (awarded for LTS or 600-day vets, I think). It's identical to the C-store version, including the gimmick console.

Does this count toward a Fleet Ship Module discount?

Um check the ship yard on the Fleet Kar'Fi sir. If it shows it for 1 fleet module and x fleet credits then yes, you've got the discount.

no, but I imagine you'd be able to buy the pets at least

I'm not sure how the reward works. But even if it's not an account wide unlock, it should still qualify for pet access on the char that unpacked the ship. Should, that is...

Fleet ships are character unlocks, and it *should* but it doesn't

still haven't bothered flying it other than around Qo'nos

It's a fleet ship? Well that goes back to the original issue. He said Kar'fi instead of Fleet Karfi. So I thought that vet reward he was referring to was the cstore version, since giving the fleet ship to chars that may not have tier 3 spire would be strange.

er, yeah I read that wrong. the vet reward token doesn't count for a fleet module discount - but would allow him to buy the pets.
