Ship Switching Visual

ravinravin Member Posts: 509 Arc User
While I'm not too keen on the idea of switching ships anywhere, I am happy that the portion of the community that wants it is going to get it, I would like to address the visual that will happen when you switch ships. According to the blog, your old ship will leave and your new ship would arrive. Would it not make more sense for your new ship to arrive then your old ship leaves, giving some sense that a transition has been made?

I apologize if this has already been addressed already.

You won't be able to switch anywhere, only in social areas such as sector space etc. so switching during combat in a PvP or PvE won't happen.

I am with ya on the ship arriving etc. Who is at the helm if all your crew is on your existing ship.

Makes no difference really as the cut-scene could indicate you flew back to a starbase swapped ships and then returned.

Yeah "anywhere" was too broad of a term. Even a quick transporter scene to go along with the ships warping in and out would help with the immersion.

In the matter of seconds from the other side of Romulan space?

Considering most stuff in game is accelerated I dont see why not. Most people would be particularly flustered by a 10 minute countdown in the middle of the cutscene.

For reference I believe I was one of the first to call for a ship warp in, shuttles move between then old ship warps out cutscene but this will do as better than nothing.

Time is already relative, but in a videogame and TV, it's even worse.
Remember, for the game, since the release, it's been less than a year. And the Romulan storyline start a few months before the feds. It took me several days to complete it :)

Just imagine the ship is gone for a few days.

Yeah, the game has been out for 4 years but the ingame year is still 2409. Time is a non-issue.

Everything in the game takes place in 2409. Give or take a few time travel episodes.
