Question: Does Neelix return as the chef of Voyager and do we get the opportunity to kill him?
Any excuse will be enough: brainwashed by Iconians, driven mad by reading Twilight 2400, Ceti slugs, etc...:D
Seriously, though, nice job on getting Mr Russ in the STO crew.
OMG, Tim Russ. You can't be serious. Another Vulcan. And his comment during the interview. "Voice Acting is difficult, coz you have to put your emotions into the acting" He is Vulcan, plays Vulcan and Vulcans don't show their emotions. I would have opted for Torres, Chakotay, even a Tom Paris or the one that everyone seems to hate, but has the biggest knowledge of the Delta Quadrant, Neelix. He was the guide for the crew of Voyager and the first Federal Ambassador in this quadrant. Would have loved to be him as our guide.
They TRY not to show their emotions... humans who know them well though, more often than not, have proven that small little bits do slip through It can be only the tiniest inflections and quirks, and it doesn't matter if it's voice or expressions, but they are there
Playing that kind of nuance isn't exactly easy, and it'll be different to do so with voice work only - a nice little challenge lol
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

Nope, I hear the plot to it is where Admiral Tuvok and yourself have to go save neelix from being swallowed alive by iconian carrots. Then when you think you have saved him the carrots self replicate and you must do a dance with neelix and tuvok or you die and the mission fails.
I was surprised it was Tim Russ who was the new VO Star Trek Actor but glad its another main character
Sweet. I had the privilege Of spending a few hours with Tim at a Creation Con shortly after Voyager left the air. So for me this is a double thumbs up! I cant wait to meet him again in game!:D:D
+1 for this. And to the poster who complained about priorities and how it is equivalent to dev's pay for a year. You are missing the point.
There is enough money to do both and both are needed.
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
I'm just reminded of something Stahl once said years ago...the cost of getting a trek actor to come in and read some lines could pay a dev for a year. Seems our priorities are out of whack.
Well, aren't they over 40 devs and at a point where more devs would start stepping on one another's toes?
Shy of changing how they do business and how leads/teams work, maybe splitting Gozer's job as lead designer into two or three jobs, I suspect they're at one of those points where they couldn't add more than 2-3 permanent staff without going full throttle and adding twenty... or doing something like having a second studio take over an aspect of the game like content, ala Cryptic North.
That's the kind of point where you can say, "Okay. If we add any more people, we'll need an office space and equipment and twenty people. The cubicles are full right now. So let's start spending money on voiceover. If it grows the game, we can look at a 20 person expansion at a satellite office. If it doesn't and just maintains things, we couldn't really squeeze another person comfortably on this team anyway."
Okay with Tim Russ, now get it over with, get T'Paul and that's the end of Vulcan voice overs. Honestly, the Vulcan wasn't even in my top 5 guesses of who it would be. Good surprise I guess.
BUT: If that snippet of in-game video was supposed to show Adm. Tuvok on the (future) bridge of the Voyager, I have to admit that I am very disappointed by the arts/environment team :-/
i'm happy to have tim and voyager back, (she is one of my favorite ship designs) but it's wired to see him on a bridge that's completely different then that on the show:( if anything it should be slightly different, but still the same major layout.
but maybe your just trying to get more bridge sales without making a new bridge. :P

I'd rather have seen Admiral Tuvok in an Admiral's uniform or at least a 2409 captain's uniform. Also, he looks a bit... wide in the shoulders... in that screenshot.
I too am hoping they either did a majorly-massive refit of Voyager (the bioneural gel packs were experimental when it launched as I recall and all that Borg tech should have lead to even more advances...) or it is Voyager-A. Hell, they should create an all-new "Voyager-class" (vs Intrepid) considering how impactful their historic trek would have been. A Voyager-class with refined versions of all the upgrades they made during their journey and then some.
Cryptic seems to be loosely following *some* of the books (which are mostly good reads) ala Aventine, but they do not follow all of them. Its a shame the two licensors can't synchronize their timelines. Data's return in the books is far better than STO's version, being done in an much more unexpected and cooler way.
As for Captain Chakotay and Tom Paris, that's in the books which are a couple of decades behind STO's timeline of 2409. Chakotay is 80 years old in 2409, Tom is 66, and B'Elanna is 60.
Tuvok is a good choice because, as a long-lived Vulcan, he's expected to still be in his prime despite the passing of three decades since Voyager came home. Data would also be a good choice because he's an android.
104 year-old Picard "making it so" in his adult diaper, not so much...
(I totally guessed it was going to be Tim, just because of the delta quadrant focus and because I hadnt seen him in much lately hehe... not since Samantha Who, a great little show in which he basically played Tuvok the doorman lol...) Very much looking forward to hearing him and having the character in game!
Tuvok making command decisions, excellent! I'm really looking forward to this episode and how it evolves the character since its certainly not who I expected.

Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
So now we know Tim russ is Admiral aboard U.S.S. Voyager.
For most of you it was obvious of course, and that Voyager is coming back for the Delta Quadrant is also obvious...
When Bran asked who he liked as first officer He said Riker and Spock.
That puzzled me a bit Riker no He is an admiral maybe retired but spock would be a choice he is still missing just like Tasha Yar is missing.
So my hopes are that they set up a sequel to find spock with Voyager.
First Riker is First Officer and with the end of the Story Riker will go back to earth and spock will take his place as first officer.
So what is your thought as player ?

"Coffee: the finest organic suspension ever devised. It's got me through the worst of the last three years. I beat the Borg with it."
I'm afraid you're misinterpreting the interview question. Brandon asked Tim Russ which Star Trek character he (Russ) thought would make a good first officer, if he could pick any character from any era.
It doesn't have anything to do with what will happen in STO...it was just a fun question.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
Yes, that was Elisa Flores at the helm. I was just about to post about it. I can't be sure, but I suspect what we saw is preliminary footage, possibly with not the bridge we'll see in the actual mission and possibly with temporary, stand in bridge officers. Sure, Voyager could be a new ship or have a refit, but not having a Voyager bridge recreation seems. . . odd. Especially for Cryptic of the last year and a half.
Just guesswork at this point.
Tuvok is a good choice for a Starfleet-centric character form Voyager. The Doctor was my favorite Voyager character, but it would seem off for him to suddenly be the Emergency Command Hologram for the type of mission this looks like it will be. Tuvok works.
TUVOKKKKKKKK!!!! Yay!! Very cool to have Tim Russ joining the STO universe and can't wait to play the episodes he's involved in.
Edit: Was weird having Tuvok say he would like a human as his second in command since they have a more advantageous perspective because they rely more on intuition .

A most Logical move getting Tim Russ in. *dons pointy ears*
That being said his combadge doesn't match the Voyager/ds9 era uniform.
(yes that was the first thing I noticed lol) :P
But over all very cool, I look forward to this.

That bridge in the background looks awful. Sorry to say that :-| Also, Tuvok's model is by far not as convincing as that of Worf for instance.

T'Pol. Duh.
Much smarter than Riker, and much better-looking than Spock...

Don't forget Vulcan, just like Tuvok.
...and than we would be saving Voyager and her in the Delta Quadrant!
But..but..what would happen if Admiral Tuvok went through the transporter and became Admiral Tuvix? Could Miral save him from himself!?
