Maybe Cryptic would consider making these the first Mk XIII weapons in honor of the accomplishment achieved by CERN.
I'll even say "pretty please?"
Something in a nice vivid Flame Yellow-Orange might be appealing. Or many just stark bright White!

Rep Gear
Fleet Gear
Fleet Projects
Advanced Hanger Pets (from the dil store.)
Many many other things, but I have lost all interest in listing it.
I actually like Delta Rising.
Fair enough but for me and maybe others, I've lost interest in those things but have interest in further exasperating my power creep with some Mk XIII weaps. Every MMO going back to the days of EQ (if not back further) eventually replace the "top tier" with another level. What makes STO different? MK XIII should be an eventual conclusion.
I've ground to tears the same mind-wrenchingly repetitive shoot-em-up missions over and over to get fleet, rep, lock box, etc. gear, passives, and ships. My dilithium and FC stocks are choked because of all the things I've ground out. You're telling me that I... want to have all that obsoleted and grind it again? Good one.
(If you think it would just be weapons that get the upgrade if Mk XIII came out, think again)
Rant aside, the science article is cool.
If some says matter can't be created or destroyed I'm slap them

I made some dark matter once, but now I can't find it...

Conclusion? Hardly. M.XIII will beget Mk.XIV, and then people will be begging for Mk.XV gear, and so on.
The eventual conclusion of all of this is Mk. Infinity. Oh, wait...

You can't change the total amount of mass-energy in the universe (barring nano-scale quantum fluctuations), but changing one form of matter into another, or changing matter into energy and then into another form of matter happens quite frequently--scientists do that all the time with particle colliders.
Considering there's already an entire damage type ingame, you're really overreacting.
Or did you not know that an antiproton beam and an antimatter beam are the same thing?
Or that a photon torpedo uses an antimatter warhead, for that matter. :P
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
