The recluse is the best, no competition dps/tank hybrid.

So then, what energy type would be best for PvP?

Elachi, Anitproton, Rom plasma OR Polarized disruptors, depending on what you wanna do.
Inertia just means you can do Powerslides in you carrier!

Having got my feet wet, polarons have my vote as the best type. Resiliant resb shields seem to be the go to shields, polaron isn't listed.

Plus it really messes up anyone without power insulators and still does a little something to those that do.

In pvp, I am a big green horn, I rely on my gear to get me through. I have faith in polarons

Your faith is horribly misplaced young padawan, Polarized Disruptors are far superior to them in every way. Polaron Rappage + Dusruptor things = Better stuffs.

For that particular combination my highest recomendation would be:

Full beam Aux2Bat Fleet Excelsior. Can tank everything and anything, and hits like a wrecking ball.

That is why my fleet exclesior is over 67000 hull and still grins at you when it gets hit.

That's actually what I'm using...but due to what I said before I would think straight polaron would be better

The only advantage is that most shields dont have a resist to it. But you kill the shield power it doens treally matter does it?

We both know this, search your feelings Dahminus you know it to be true....

Polarons weaken how hard your target hits, how fast they go. How strong the heals are and weaken the resist/regen rate of shields.

Plus they don't worry about resb(my assumed most common type) 15% shield res

Plus polaron is purple, purple is awesome

Polarized disruptors do all that PLUS the Disruptor proc. Minus the 15% reistance drop, at least they might, i dont remember which is ResA and which is ResB and whats on them.

And Polarized Disruptors are pinkish green....

So, is there a lockbox ship that can do that better? And I'm looking for a PvP build, not neccesarily PvE.

I'll be perfectly honest here, I'm not really big on lockbox ships so I don't use them except one - the Krenn Temporal Destroyer. But that is more of a damage dealing ship than a combination of DPS/Tanking one. From what I can see on paper, the Tholian Recluse *might* be what you're looking for, but I can't speak first hand about it. I also stopped paying attention since the Elachi lockbox, so I have no real idea on these new Elachi & Voth ships.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpfull in regards to lockbox ships.

Oh no, Prophets, please don't!! Oh, what have I done?!?

So if I already have a lot invested into Antiproton on my character, I shouldn't switch? I've heard that you can get wicked plasma damage by using the vulnerbility consoles and the embassy consoles. I don't want to give up my field gens though, such tank there!

If i could i would find away to make it loud speaker or auto chat "i came in like a wrecking ball", everytime i hit a very specific power (something i dont hit too often) :D

You are good with Anitprotons, and Yes Rom Plasma with Embassy consoles + locator and vulnerability consoles is also pretty epic.

Hard call. All things being equal Antiproton is the top, but in order to get the set bonus for AP you can't have AMP.

For PVE plasma is the winner because the experimental array gives you both a zero energy weapon and a set bonus, with bfaw being the highest damage potential. And you can have AMP.

Ok, so apparently I have pretty much all what you guys said, but from what I'm getting, if you use the spire consoles that give you crit chance and plasma, then use fleet plasma or rommie plasma, and the science cosnoles that boost your plasma damage, you have a DPS monster? But my question is, is this effective in PvP? I've heard that everyone and their brother's dog has plasma resist :( I currently use AP.

I don't PVP, but if I were going to i would probably run Tet. why? no one does. and I bet no one speccs against it

Mobius Temporal Destroyer. You can spec it to tank or dps a lot easier than other ships.

yes Mobius Temporal Destroyer is good ship
lower Shield Modifier then the Bastion
    lower Hull then the Bastion
the temporal set hurts Mobius as a tank

Voth Bastion Flight-Deck Cruiser beater tank!
    op asked for a tank...

Mobius Temporal Destroyer is not a tank...

    The Risan Luxury Cruiser.

Yes yes the Bulwark is good too, but look at this:

The bulwark turns at 7 degrees per second. Slow right?

The Risan Cruiser turns at 10. Much better.

They both have 5 engineering consoles.

If you buy the fleet consoles at the fleet dilithium mine, you can buy a lot more that give you health than turn speed, because the turn rate of the Risan ship is already good, meaning the Risan cruiser effectively has more health.

Also, the Risan cruiser has one more Tact console, meaning it has more firepower.

I have one, and I love it. If you didn't get one this year, you can get it next year :)

On a side note, if turn speed is not that big of a problem for you, then the Bulwark is the best option.
