Yeah, funny enough I feel the same about KDF battlecruisers. While it seems so natural to have beams on the Federation cruisers, when you put them on a KDF battlecruiser just feels....I don't know, wrong somehow. Maybe it has to do something with their aggresive look and the fact that the battlecruisers were the only ones with the ability to mount DHCs. (in the cruiser department)
Yeah. Fed cruisers sell the whole 'can fire from different overlapping arcs' thing in their appearance, particularly the saucer section and the more curvaceous design aesthetic. Even ships like the Defiant are still somewhat saucer-shaped. Klingon battlecruisers, and Romulan Warbirds for that matter, have a look that's like 'frontal arc or nothing'.
Another thing that bugs me about the Mogh is the weapon hardpoints. Cannons/DBBs fire from these weapon pods underneath the wings. On the one hand, I kind of like it for DHCs, but with DBBs it looks kind of... awkward, especially when you're firing off-centre and the beams fire through the hull lol And a general sense that the design is a bit too 'busy' as well. Also what's up with the armour plates glowing when in Red Alert? Was there some lore reason for that?
I want to like the Mogh, but I'm really tempted by the Tor'kaht, because the Vor'cha skin just rocks. But eh, I don't regret the purchase, first c-store ship they've released since the Bort so I felt obliged to purchase it.
It's not the look, it's the feel. With the turnrate, the wrongness you feel when fitting beams is that it turns too fast. You brain is telling you: "I'm in arc of dhcs, so why am I still hitting this thing with these weak beam arrays?":D

BFAW + APB. What was that about weak beam arrays again?
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
I've also run fleet versions of both now.. what I did to get the best out of the Tor'kat was speccied my avatar to run a GUN ship. My Tor'khat carried no torps Zero, none, nada.. 4 DHC forward, 4 turrets aft... with some of the uni consoles I have I have never ever dropped below 80% wepons power,,, I run low end on engines, low end on shield, and the rest of the power pool in Aux to boost SCI boff power, and my avatar's powers (who is a SCI). I've done the same thing on the Mogh. and again wepons power just doesn't drop below 80%.
Coming out of cloak CRF locked in at 5k from my chosen target...I rip the crud out of em.. and in PVE of course I'll drop photonic fleet and break long to horse it around for another pass..
My emphisis is on maximum sustained damage over time, not burst damage. Fed cruiser captains do not like me... I chew though them, and their burst damage specific defenses are totally wasted. While my own defenses against the typical fed cruise beam boat are more then adequate to stand up to what ever they can dish out. I can with this sort of build get away with dropping my speed so I do not over run the target and just chew them apart. If they Star castle then they're just not going to have sufficient fire power to hurt me. and if they punch up the wrong power by accident they'll die, because my damage out put is only slightly maybe 10% less over time then that of a pure all up zoom and boom Tactical BOP. And with my build strategy, they never get a breather. The same build works with a Mogh as the Tor'khat, but now the previous 10 less damage goes away with 5 DHC's forward, and I'm actually able to out DPS over time the all up tactical BOP's... and thats with a SCI captain...
Consider thinking out side the box on your builds... because of course everyone "knows" whats ideal... they think.. The best generals in history are the ones that knew when to toss the "Book" out the nearest airlock.
Figure out what you want to do how, and optimize your ship and your captains skill tree to do that. They'll always be someone out there who can clean your clock... but if you can arrange the fight on your terms, playing into your strengths.. it won't happen that often.
Their both good ships, but Mogh will crush everything in a pve setting with a dual heavy cannon build or a beam build, aux2batt or no aux2batt. In a pvp setting the extra engi slots for P2Eng, DEM, and/or Aux2Damp with Aux2Damp Doff makes a difference.
