TRIBBLE Maintenance and Release Notes - January 15, 2014

coldsnappedcoldsnapped Member Posts: 520 Cryptic Developer
We will be bringing down the Tribble server for maintenance to apply a new update: ST.36.20140108a.4

General:
  • Reduced the category cooldown for Tier 5 Reputation Ground Powers from 10 minutes to 5 minutes.
    • This is still a work in progress and may not be the final change.
  • Point Defense System:
    • This item now deals normal damage to small craft if the captain using it is also in a small craft.
  • Klingon Characters can now claim K'Gan (the bridge officer from the Klingon Tutorial) at the Klingon Academy.
    • Look for the Klingon Personnel Auditor to get the bridge officer.
    • This applies to Klingons who were created before the Tutorial was added, or Klingons who have dismissed K'Gan from their crew rosters.
  • Duty Officers:
    • Vulcan Adept: This active roster ability will now be triggered only once by the Reman trait Mind Drain.
  • Mines:
    • Resolved an issue that was causing some mine explosions' areas of effect to be calculated from the ship's location rather than the mine's.
  • Items: Singularity Cores which add a subsystem offline chance to Plasma Shockwave now have a 20% chance to disable a subsystem for 5-7.5 seconds, based on the user's Subspace Decompiler skill.
  • The D7 Battlecruisers in the episode "Past Imperfect" no longer deploy Bio-neural warheads.
    • This weapon should not have been available in that time.
  • Dyson Joint Command Reputation:
    • Removed equipment references from the reputation's description.
    • Added a much more detailed description of available rewards via the Info tab.
  • Aenar Bridge Officer Requisition Form:
    • This item now describes how to use it in its tooltip.
  • Resolved and issue which was caused the Republic Dress Uniform's pants to be in the skirt category.

Known Issues:
  • Some bridge officers' power buttons do not display when they are in the outer-most bridge officer slots.
  • Fire at Will still does not Crit.
  • Some KDF captains cannot switch to all of their costume slots.

It's still useful, it's just no longer an "I win" button. Seriously.... before it'd make a small armada of shuttle/fighters explode almost simultaneously.

You can thank PvPers for that.

Yep and that's why instead of nerfing consoles for pvp they should just create separate PvP settings for the console. Sure the power of the point defense console was going to be an issue in shuttle PvP, but there was no problem with it for shuttle PvE content. That being said I avoid shuttle content so not exactly going to defcon 1 over this one.

Have you played Operation Gamma at all?

    I'm guessing no.

with the PDS the mission is so face rollingly easy that it barely requires you to be conscious....

If you require the PDS to complete shuttle content, you are doing it wrong.

Hell, you don't even need a boff ability. The type 8 doesn't even get one.

Resolved and issue which was caused the Republic Dress Uniform's pants to be in the skirt category.

    Finally.

But did you fix the Republic Dress Uniform top for female romulans? It makes my character look fat. I looked forward to that uniform when I bought lifetime sub and until that gets fixed, I won't use the outfit.

I pointed it out here, with screenshots http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=935611

If it isn't fixed yet, could you at least put it in your known issues list please?

But what about what's-her-name Feds get in the new Fed tutorial? Are you guys working on a way for characters created before season 8 to get her? I hope so because I kinda like her.

Edit: Also, are you going to do the same thing for Toven Khev from the Romulan tutorial? I know someone from Cryptic said a while back you were going to find a way for us to be able to dismiss him from our crew.

You can already get Elisa Flores from SFA on a pre-existing character. There is a NPC by LT Ferra in the room where you do the Lore Daily

If you think about Elisa Flores, she is available in the academy, by talking to a NPC between the 2 DOFF related NPC, in the quizz room. As for the other BOFF, they are only available to new players.
Tovan is given to any Rom, even if you skip the tutorial.

What I meant is that Toven Khev can't be dismissed from your crew. Period. Players have been requesting for a way to get rid of him. Personally I like him myself. My question was if they are going to come up with a way to dismiss him but also be able to replace him if we wanted him back, like with K'Gan and Elisa Flores.

One of the more dangerous/troublesome things to do in software development is change fundamental assumptions of systems that other features have been built on. In this case, all Romulan content was built with the fundamental assumption that all Romulan-faction players would have Tovan Khev. I won't say "never", but it is extremely unlikely that we will ever make him dismissable, and would be a non-trivial amount of work to do so and still make existing mission content work.

As annoying as he can be having to rework all the romulan missions hardly seems worth it just so we can get rid of him. An extra boff slot being available free to romulans would be nice though, since we are stuck with 1 we can't get rid of and, atleast in my case, will never use for anything.

Ouch. That really got me. I can't really quit STO because I have a lifetime subscription, but... dammit...

But Tovan Khev can still be in every mission even if he isn't in someone's roster! Just make him an NPC.

Come on Hawk, give us some hope.

So I see space rep powers are still on shared CD ... and the CD is NOT back to 3 mins for tetryon cascade. Is this being worked on ... or did you change your mind once again. I appreciated your comment in the other thread that you were looking at alternative.

I feel this is incredibly severe nerf to tier V power which is actually very cool but absolutely NOT overpowered. Don't forget that we toiled to get this on all of our characters. It is not very smart to take away a hard earned reward just like you wouldn't nerf a P2W console from lobi store. Your players will remember this kind of thing ... and won't be so eager to do the grind next time ...

In any case having it on any shared CD will essentially kill its usage.

Easy solution, since Romulan players are stuck with him, just give them all an extra boff slot. Problem solved and no horrible coding changes necessary.

OK then. Sounds logical to me. I actually like Toven, but I was thinking of the players who literally want to throw him out an airlock because they can't stand him. I think Toven's voiceover work was really good though.

How about this: make it so we can get D'vex again from the episode Devil's Choice for romulan republic characters.

I didn't find out he had a good space and ground trait until months after I obtained, and threw away, him on my first romulan republic character. There seems to be no way to reobtain him. :(

Make D'vex like the Jem'hadar bridge officer you can get from the episode Facility 4028: Limited to 1 per character, but you can choose D'vex as a reward upon episode replay. If you already have him you would get a message saying you can't have more than 1 and you will either have to get rid of the D'vex you already have, or choose 1 of the other replay rewards. Pretty please? :)

How does allowing us to delete him at level 50 have anything to do with the prior Romulan story line?
If he is hard coded into the story, fine, but at level 50 he is just annoying and wont stop taking over mission contacts....

Perhaps find a way to stuff him away until the mission where he is required?
I honeslty do not want him on my bridge.

Yet he is always there no matter what position I give him on the ship.

I do not care much for the PDS change at all.

And as for Tovan.....can't you just make him shut the frak up? He is so annoying to listen to. Honestly, I want to turn my weapons on him and shoot him.

I am gonna guess that is the case. Could be the DOFF was multi-proccing or something on the ability.

If that is true, hopefully they only fixed the bug, and didn't nerf the DOFF, since it affects so few things already.
