    Deja vu? This sounds familiar.

I really don't have an opinion on this matter. If it was Geko stepping down, I'd be cheering. But Stahl? I honestly don't care.

Except that this time he's not seeking greener pastures, he is just transferring between projects at Cryptic. Which means, he's not changing employers and won't have the same incentives to return to STO this time. Still not sure if that's good or bad.

can't be worse then what we had. -> Good!
there is another dev that desperately needs a new project outside of STO

doubt this would have any impact on pvp development. unless dan was making decisions that had been stalling, delaying, or holding back pvp development this whole time. with the level of hands off pvp has had, i really would not be surprised if that was the case.

At least this time Mr. DeAngelo is taking over as Exec, instead of trying to be exec in addition to his other responsibilities at Cryptic. Maybe he'll prove to be much better at it this time than he was during the F2P transition (again, he already had a job at Cryptic then and took on the Exec Producer role on top of it)

I ll up you one. For PvP to receive as little attention as it has seen, the person in charge needs to have been involved. Who else, if not Dstahl, could guaranty that a whole game mode goes unchecked for 3.9 years?

I'm not convinced that Stahl was calling the shots. Ever since his return I had the impression that he was no longer giving orders, but rather following the plans laid out by You-Know-Who.

I seem to remember you saying that the devs at release look like total geniuses compared to the more recent crew. I agree, so another reason to feel optimistic.

Makes no difference one way or the other... not like they are bringing some new person in. This is the same guy that took over last time. Same old. If the company was private and not traded I think they would have just changed the group settings on there emails and not even bothered announcing any changes.

Development through the next few months was already scheduled, budgeted, and in-progress. Wont make any difference to anything until summer at the earliest. Who knows after that.

Maybe we will get real Romulan faction and multi-faction PVP.

Isn't the new guy the one responsible for the F2P (P2W) transition and everything that is currently happening as an extension of the revamp of stuff for that?

Personally never really knew much about Stahl, he seemed alright from what little I heard. As others have mentioned I think it's other factors that have led to what we have.

Still it's alright us pointing fingers, we don't really know what the memo or the rulings passed down from their masters are. I mean for all we know this is all a milking exercise for the IP and then it'll get shut down when it no longer gets x amount of Zen bought/traded.

I mean if you're not willing to sell your soul to completely trash an IP you love there's always someone else willing to. Not saying we're doomed or anything, just perhaps trying to sway it from being a "these people don't do what we want so are evul" and point out we haven't seen beyond the veil so to say.

P.S. I'm really tired so if it doesn't make sense you're not the only one

At the very most he can be an advocate for PvP, but otherwise, Mr. Di'angelo's appointment to Producer is unlikely to have any effect on development of PvP.
If you feel Keel'el's effect is well designed, please, for your own safety, be very careful around shallow pools of water.

My impression is that Dan is being sent off to lead whatever their next hoped for cashcow will be. Maybe I just didn't see it but Neverwinter, for all its hype did not seem like a hit among players?

I think a far greater concern is them getting close to announcing their next f2p tittle, which will inevitably mean them putting their current games in a holding pattern while the entire company works to get this new game out the door.

As far as the new guy is concerned, wasn't he the one that took over when stahl made a break for it at Zynga? Whatever else, Angelo wasalways straight with the players, even when he had to "clarify" how there was no new content coming with f2p, and we'd all come to expect more than they had planned based on misunderstanding what stahl had said..... yeah, he was given the terrible job of dissappointing everyone and confirming our fears that we'd all been led on to keep subbing for a year with no content... so they could go f2p and forget about the longtime players....

I don't see how him going affects us in any way.

I'll always remember Dan as a two-faced lier who fed us nearly 4 years worth of BS that never happened. I know company goals can change and **** happens, but the sheer amount of time he fed us a line about things being "in testing" or maps being made "With PvP adaptation in mind" ruined any positive view I could have had for him.

Will D'Ang be any better? He can't be any worse for PvP development.

If we wish real hard, maybe Stahl will take Geko, too...

PVP improvements or Fleet Galaxy improvements?

    Place your bets!

    Ridiculous comparison.

One is a trivial change of stats to an existing asset with minimal recoding required - maybe some tweaks to the art assets for C-store sale.

The other is a major overhaul of a game element where the playerbase can't agree what the actual problem is.

For the next year I do not seeing anything much changing like others have said, the timeline has been set for this year adn I do not see them deviating any, because it will be a buffer period for Deanglo, again. He will not be able to leave his mark on anything until season 10 or 11. I am glad stahl is gone, he has been "political" in his support for PvP but his track record has shown that when he is in control more things get broken in PvP in the name of PvE.
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up

What is all of this hate for Geko? Personally I think he's a fine developer and by far one of the most dedicated members of the Star Trek Online team. He's done several three hour interviews with Priority One Podcast in the past on his off the clock time. In my eyes, that speaks volumes, he cares. PvP needs some love, but we can't place all of the blame on Geko's shoulders, it wouldn't be fair.

He doesn't care about game balance and just wants to release shinies?

it mostly dates back to how he balanced ships. and 1 in particular, he is responsible for the bug for example. since being the best hands down wasnt enough, he buffed it too. that was a dark hate filled day, for like 2 years that ship ruled the game, no mater how many owners of it would like to deny it. even today its the last escort you want to get in a duel with, even though other escorts and warbirds have surpassed in in other ways, like vapeing and... ya thats it.

a few times he has shown some alarming ignorance on a few balance related issues of their time too. but since he seems to be more on the content end these days, i have no problem with him. he cares about trek and the game, cares enough to do big long interviews, and hes not in a position to do damage to balance anymore. i dont have issues with the voth and their ground critters, but theres a lot of people that do. any recent scorn would be related to that.

After making your post did you return to it and read it over?

And then say..."Oh. I GET IT NOW! LOL that's FUNNY!"

    As far as my thoughts...

I don't see a change. Unless there's a true crusader for PVP in the ranks the corporate dollars will not flow. Or the Dollars are already flowing in from the playerbase so there's actual resistance to changing the model, as opposed to simple lack of interest.

Be that as it may, initiatives like the kind DarkFrntiers is taking are likely to have greater bearing on the future of PVP than any other source.

We will see the ship first.

And it was a great comparison.

guess we'll have to wait and see....what do they mean by hybrid? Also they said scientists developed the ship....so i'm thinking some sci/tac ship? bran said there will be another dev blog soon.

Just as long as its not some a2b capable sci-scort/destroyer. The JHEC is already annoying enough.

He comes off as an arrogant douche that's out of touch with the game and what players want. He's more interested in "stuff he thinks is cool and fun" than making a quality Star Trek MMO. I could not care less about what the guy does in his so called free time.
