I was wondering if I could get some advice on maximizing my toons rep. I fly a bug with a focus on spike and survivability. What good is an escort if he's dead? I like to stay in the fight while dealing spike damage on command. I have heard alot of different ideas on what the best reps to use. Placate vs shield heal in rom T4 for example. I personally like the placate, when I switch out of my bug into my jem carrier its great to placate and have them target my pets instead. Its also great during all the chaos of a 5v5 when the spam is strong to disappear in the crowd. But I can totally see the other side where having a shield heal at all times is better than a chance to placate against only 1 target vs shield healing vs many. I use AP weapons which kinda synergizes with the chance on crit aspect of the proc. Any bug users on either side of the fence mind commenting on their experiences?
another question is T2 nukara vs T4 omega. A little after the nukara rep came out someone told me that they put each other on CD so you really want to pick one or the other and that having T4 omega shield heal was better than the T2 nukara hull increase. Do they really put each other on CD?
I also just read in another recent post that the dyson resist was better than the debuff for a similar reason to the rom shield heal vs placate. Its better to have this resist against multiple opponents vs only debuffing one. But when its my job to be the killing blow, shouldn't I maximize my potential to deal that blow?
I'd like to have a 60/40 or 70/30 balance of damage to survivablity on this ship so I dont need to go full on offense.
anyways, thanks in advance for any tips! I dont mind anecdotal evidence because I am by no means good at mmo maths, but if you have any statistics to provide that would be invaluable.
Just a few things that I've noticed from the rep systems:
Rom T4: Pick the placate if you're worried about your targets shooting back at you. Pick the shield heal if you're worried about being critted often. Note that the shield heal has a hidden cooldown; I'm not sure what this CD actually is. (Also, people will hate you for picking the placate.)
Nukara T2 vs. Omega T4: They're both passive buffs; it doesn't make sense for them to "put each other on CD". Perhaps you meant something else?
Dyson T4: This is really up to you. Note that the debuff effect from the offensive T4 only benefits you; other people attacking the target don't receive the benefit of your -15 resistance rating on the target. (That is to say, don't treat it like APB and expect it to stack when multiple people have it.) I'd personally choose the hull hardening because there's so much direct-to-hull damage out there these days. (Also, it's really, really useful when you aren't already using armor consoles.)
