Anyone else notice that the Unimatrix lances are hitting out in excess of 10km, for one shots players, again? Just did a testing run for another member in my fleet, and has this occur, as on respawn of the initial wipe against the Unimatrixes, I then got lanced at 21km away, after leaving the spawn point, without attacking anything.
Had to leave the run eventually, as probes were spawning like rabbits, and players were being double lanced by both Unimatrixes. Yes, I know the tactics, but 'this' ain't one of them to having been dealt with.
What exactly is with the game code, reverting patch fixes, 'back' to stuff like this anyway? Kinda makes it hard for those without the optional completed, to get it done. Feels a 'bit' like proper tactics would help here anyway.
Tell me about it, the mission was supposed to be fixed and well as you can see its er fixed craptic style.
Working as intended I think but I cannot be certain as the dev's just seem to change the goal posts at their whim ! So whats working as intended this week may not be next week

Aceton Beam III. One can actually take a lance and live with that applied on a unimatrix.
That said... yeah, that's rather annoying lol.
I actually find it rather odd it can target and fire all the way to spawn, but cannot hit a cloaked vessel there.
The mission is still entirely possible to complete, including optionals(did it tonight actually), just is now as annoying as pre-fix.
Getting taken down by 2 torp spread IV's hitting me at once is one thing - I can live with that, obviously not paying enough attention if I did not outrun the spreads/throw up shield/hull resist/regen abilities. Getting one-shot by those lances however is simply frustrating. Aceton Beam III does make it manageable, though the team does need to be loaded in that regard, the more you can nerf the unimatrices damage potential the easier that whole mess is.
lol I attempted this mission yesterday and we finished the 1st part no problems. But as soon as the space pickles showed up and I got Lanced. I waited for the cooldown timer to count down and then as soon as I respawned and turned the wheel on my mouse to move foward I was lanced again. Less that 2 seconds since respawn. Now I wait again. This time I have time to move foward a little, about 5 seconds since 2nd respawn and I get lanced again. Now I am over a min in cooldown wait time. Some of the others on the Pug are at twice that. People start leaving. I soon follow. What a great mission

Pick Up Group for Hive Space Elite.
Even when the lances stayed within range, that is soooooo not a good idea. Get a (balanced) team together, lay out a strategy, and above all, be able to take a hit.... that mission has never been puggable unless you are insanely lucky in players that happened to queu. The groups(fleetmates) I normally take in there manage it in 10 minutes, though we certainly didn't start with it being like that. Start with Aceton Beams lowering it's damage as the literal 'first thing' to do once the cubes are down. And escape-skip the cutscene, you need those valuable seconds to avoid the initial lance by being within 5km of the queen.
Beware the feedback pulses, either RSP or GTFO.
I just want to be able to get off the spawn. Have time to fly over to the targets and be able to engage them. Thats it. If I get killed while fighting thats fine. But to get lanced, Respawn and instantly get lanced again. Then again. Is broken.
What I think is happening is the whole team dies. Then the 1st player to respawn gets targeted instantly for a lance. And since they can target you at the spawn you get blasted the second you appear. Then if other players can get to the Unimatrix ships they are attacking from a position where the Lance cant hit them, so when the lance is charged and ready to fire and has no player in it's arc and suddenly a player respawns, it now has a target and fires. So what is happening is anyone that is on or near the spawn is being targeted the instant they respawn when no other targets are available. The Devs just need to make the spawn point not targetable by the Lance. Or shorten its firing distance.
I have seen this mission done by a good PUG. But I think it is, apart from the No Win Scenario, the hardest content in the game. And the complains about it are probably the reason why we don't have more really hard space content.
There is hard space content then there is insta pop. I dont mind a challenge, in fact I welcome it, give me a beating no problem but at least give me the chance to react to it and try and do something about it. The mission isnt the problem its the lance !
Not discounting the lance bug, at all, as it is annoying, I do agree.... but.... that's a loss regardless, bugged or not, 99% of the time.
If you are going into this STF while still working through your reps/gear, I would strongly advise you to wait. You need to be able to take some very hard hits to avoid team wipe with both unimatrices firing off torpedo spread IV's.... even when it wasn't bugged with spawn-killing lances, the mission requires top-end gear to survive.
My pug team got our butts handed to us earlier. Both uni's were aggro'ed and wave after wave of probes were coming at us. When we couldn't even move off spawn since any advance got us vaped by lances at like 20km out.
Yet several days before in another pug group it was fine, completed it without a single trip to respawn oblivion.
Is it that old bug, or just a random bad throw of the pug dice. Not sure on that one.
It's not broken. The lances have a range of 20k and can see cloaked ships. I've done it with all three optionals multiple times in the last week. I have failed it too. It's not broken, it's just not Infected, that's all.
"So my fun is wrong?"
No. Your fun makes everyone else's fun wrong by default.

I'd agree, except pre-patch the lance range was 10km. Additionally, this time, unlike when it was previously doing this spawn-killing, it does not fire on cloaked ships at spawn.
Regardless of how it's supposed to be working, it's definitely bugged.
Still possible to complete, as noted, but not wai.
And this is why hardily anyone queues for this. It is a great mission ... possibly the best space mission but now no one pugs it because it very nearly unpuggable. Since the game is hurting for content, it is kind of sad that the devs essentially killed a fun mission. And yes I have finished this one a number of times when I lucked out with a good pug.
The right way to do challenge is NWS. I have yet to beat that but I don't mind it. See it is about strategy and CC and healing ... all the stuff that makes for good MMO content. It is not about stupid broken one shot hits and torpedo spreads that hit for 100-200K of damage ... back to back.
