marks of exploration.. and other currency..
slowly the currency count is creeping up again as more reps are added.
well.. how about adding something that might bring a little more variety into STO.
start reps at 20.. not the current reps..
more like faction reps.
some people really like Vulcans.. some prefer Trills.. some Prefer Gorns
why not make a small rep system where characters can unlock fluff items
say a lv 20 tac wants to run blue phasers and really wants the Kumari at 50.. well do some andorian spy work on vulcan a few times and you unlock blue color phasers.. ( color change only) and available in through the normal rep system. Even more work for Andoria will unlock a Kumari style ship costume for use as a skin on a ship of that tier.. higher tier.. new costume unlock required.
Vulcan cruiser skins.. Caitan ship textures.. all fluff items that would not change STO internally just cosmeticaly
same for KDF, Nausicaan pirating would get ship skins and ground weapon types like that cool green rifle with the cruved green blade thing. Gorn style escort skins and textures for Raptors and BoPs.
im sure that the community as a whole could come up with a whole list of ideas as far as fluff unlocks more that just skimpier uniforms and shorter skirts..
IMHO there should be more enjoyment for people than just to race to 50 only to get bored grinding rep and quit after 6 weeks.
These wouldn't be as long as the normal end-game reps I hope. More options would be nice for each species, but I don't think they will give ship skins for ships that already exist. Like the Kumari.
I think that will be just too much trouble. Lot of factors with it, not being able to tell what is a real Kumari and stuff at first is one example.

PvP had...
Medals of Achievement
Medals of Bravery
Medals of Commendation
Medals of Distinction
Medals of Excellence
Marks of Honor
Cluster missions awarded
1st Order of Exploration Badges
2nd Order of Exploration Badges
3rd Order of Exploration Badges
4th Order of Exploration Badges
5th Order of Exploration Badges
Marks of Exploration
STFs granted Marks of Valor
Characters at VA1 could receive Emblems from a couple different sources, including some cluster missions, and the Deferi Dailies.
Federation characters received Starfleet Merits... pretty much all the time.
Klingon characters received Honor.
And, of course, Gold Pressed Latinum existed back then, though there was almost nothing you could do with it.
Finally, after the game went F2P we got ECDs, but they never existed at the same time as that massive mess.
Oh, right, and literally none of these currencies could be mixed, at all. They all bought different things, usually from completely separate vendors.
Right now the currency system doesn't even begin to match the subscription era one for random obtuse complexity.
Well, aside from the removal of obviously worthless low-level-only currency, it seems we're certainly heading back there. We have Marks of Fleetness Marks of Borgness, Marks of Epohhness, Marks of Tholianness, and both Marks and Commendations of Vothness now.
So the latest rep has now given us TWO different currencies, although at least these are to some degree interchangeable (at massive loss). All of these are, of course, completely non-interchangeable with each other.
And it seems this is going to continue. At this rate, we won't even be able to see how much dilithium we have because it will get pushed entirely off the visible display, forcing us to scroll just to be able to refine.
Might be neat to make Crafting a rep system that you can start at level 10. Make each tier restricted by rank, and stores that use crafting materials as their currency, and level-scaling requistions in tiers 1-4 with Mk XII requisitions in Tier 5, unlocked at level 50...
And no "marks," the common and rare data samples are the inputs.
This is less than half an idea. I need to think about this some more.
I prefair the new rep over the others its a lot faster todo i should be finnisheed on all 5 chars with in a week at most. Im not getting burned out with it like the last one. Part of the problem was there did not add any new missions to do with it there just added mark to stuff all ready in the game.
The only currencies in the game are Energy Credits, Dilithium, Zen, and Gold Pressed Latinum since currencies require some sort of economy to be considered one. I am only including Gold Pressed Latinum because it was a currency with its own economy in the series. Marks, Lobi, and other similar items are STO's version of Arcade Tokens.
